    History rain or shine

Thirty percent chance of rain the weather app said and we believed the weatherman? As we walked out the front door headed to the marina to meet our walking tour group, the heavens opened, and the "showers" down poured for two hours before petering out as we wandered through Dr. Buzzard's Hoodoo exhibit followed by a burger topped with pimento cheese at the LowCountry Produce Market. Then the sun came out with the mosquitoes ...

Gullah, LowCountry, is a state of mind or perhaps a lifestyle. While it involves hard work and attention to detail, also involved are appreciation of the environment, hospitality, and the beauty of music and the visual arts. Today we explored tmore easily accessible features in a visit to mPennm Center on St. Helena Island, followed by a browse through the Red Piano Gallery Too, both a gallery and a museum/cultural center. We drove the island roads searching out historic spots and ...

Well, Beaufort (bew'fert) is old (1711), low (elevation 15 feet), and small town Southern (population just over 16,000). We've spent a quiet two days here but a teenager would quickly go stir crazy. Today's excitement was a brief thunderstorm and an afternoon pumpkin sale. September 3rd – day 122

I rang the caretaker to suggest that
maybe the showers needed a clean as the dead spiders and other bugs
looked like they had been there a very long time. I watched his van
drive over there and he was there about ten minutes so I assumed
they'd been cleaned. We decided to drive over there since all 5 of us
needed them and it was a bit of a hike. Got there and they looked
exactly the same as yesterday. Still ...

A Busy Day Breaking All of Our Rules For Traveling

A travel blog entry by gauke on Jan 07, 2015

... headed to Dr. Wright's office then. Also texted Trent to see what time we were going to meet him and his family at Pizza Villa to celebrate Caroline's birthday - what a place for a celebration but they chose it. I had offered chicken and pastry at home but that was too fattening. Before we left for the PV I put the meatballs on. They were frozen but I heated the sauce before I poured it in. I think they will be fine. Headed on to the ...
