Diane and Sue made it out this afternoon for a hike with Zoey. We started at the Soderberg Trailhead on the southwest edge of Horsetooth Reservoir and began walking north. We stopped in to a place, the name has slipped my mind, but it was this spectacle where every half hour a massive spout would spray up from this hole in the ground- reminded me of the kiami blowhole but on land. It had us laughing when we suggested someone was standing by the side pressing a button every half hour. We hung out at this place for a while, checked out this inn that was completely made of trees so it ...
... River. It was 7 miles down a dirt road and I had no idea what to expect when I arrived. When I pulled into the parking area, I was greeted with signs welcoming me and telling where to park and how to get to the Stupta. Stupta? What the heck was a Stupta? I had heard the term before, but I still was not sure if it was a temple or simply a monument to Siddhartha, the original Buddha.
So I hiked, and hiked and hiked , down a trail named "Stupta Way" ...
... appreciated here either as a couple of old dears felt they needed to tell me that children are 'not being educated properly these days' and that 'everyone works hard, not just teachers'. I think the second lady didn't actually think that teachers work hard at all.
The only downside of this house is that most of the people around are retired so there are not many children (none yet!) for ours to make friends ...
Day 2: Nebraska/Colorado Foothills
It was another long day of driving yesterday through the rest of Nebraska and into Colorado. We decided to take a scenic bypass onto Interstate 76 vs. 80 which took us straight into Colorado rather than Wyoming.
