      ... yearly event, and the schools also close for the day. 30,000 people at the race meeting the day we were there, along with all the stalls and sideshows, coolers, picnic chairs and lots of sunburnt faces by the end of the day.       ... and the place where the Colonel put together his secret eleven herbs and spices. Julie was rather excited, leaving her door unlocked and almost falling over on the way into the place. There is a mini-museum there and we got a crispy strip each to celebrate our lucky stumble onto this piece of food history.

      Gatlinburg Vacation Day 1 We started off around 10:00 am for Jackson to get Kaleb. After picking him up we headed south for either Tennessee or somewhere close.       Long day of driving - 442 miles, about 7.5 hours.

      We stay at this park usually on our way back home. It's comfortable, easy access, and good hookups. It is connected with a company that brings in live country entertainers throughout the year. We keep hoping we will be there when something is scheduled but have missed it so far.
