... found Tennessee highway 840, a bypass, which skirted around Nashville and much less traffic. The only interesting thing was that the road only opened less than a year ago and our GPS (we've named Bertha) had no idea where we were. I had a nice run along the Cumberland river. We drove to Nashville and three of us went to Country Music Hall Of Fame Museum. It was pretty interesting. Walked all around town and to the Wild Horse salon and it was closed. Very disappointed. Drove to Gatlinburg and couldn't believe it. It was very crowded with shops everywhere. Fun to drive thru. Drove back to Pigeon Forge. Went to Staples to buy cables to project computer screen onto to TV for movies. Went to Amish shop and it was a ripoff. Not really Amish products. ... mow, it's either hire someone, blacktop it, or screw it.

We took the Natchez Trace Parkway which is a Federal historic, wooptee do trail for some reason, but it was amazing, and are now at a huge preserve with lake, no one here. Pretty cool, because you never know what you're going to find in some of these out-of-the-way places, so this was JACKPOT as opposed to our occassional GETTO.
