The festival was a lot of fun, with marquees and tents set up around a really nice amphitheatre next to a lake. There were a lot of local microbrewers and distillers as well as some other exhibitors. I'm not sure how they fit in with the theme but there were two dog rescue groups as well - greyhounds and great danes. The dogs were walked around most of the night wearing jackets ...
... so we were taken around by a lovely carer called Maryssa, who took us to meet many of the animals in facility. There are some that were not part of the tour because they are too dangerous or too traumatised to be seen by people. We were both so impressed by the amazing work this organisation does, and we were also saddened by some of the stories behind the animals we met.

Everyone on contiki had a rather heavy night the night before so the long bus journey we had today was going to be interesting. I woke up hating life with a spinning head and feeling rather delicate. Had some brekky & felt better but still could have done with staying in bed. Then it was on the way to Charleston. We got there and picked up Lynda our tour guide. She got on our bus and we drove round Charleston & it's the prettiest place so far in America ...

Our little TAB thor camper was the talk of the trip - bringing us to meet many interesting & friendly folks wherever we stopped - even stopping at a red light, a conversation might get going!
