... with a thank you note when she receives a gift.

I opened the package assuming it was an early Christmas gift since I will be on my journey during the holiday season. Instead, there was a necklace, yoga shirt, mini candles and a note that wished me good luck in India and how proud she was of me. I actually felt my heart swell.

Drove to Story City, Iowa today. The weather was not good today, in fact we drove through pour down rain for about 1 1/2 hrs as we passed through Kansas City and northward. The campground was wet from all the rain and not as pretty as it was the last time we stayed here 4 years ago. Smokey hasn't been sleeping well and has been crying during the night. I guess it is too much going on for him. Needless to say, we haven't been sleeping too ...

As we entered Nebraska, I saw countless sunflower fields, which appeared at first to be a giant yellow sea. I pulled over to snap some photos, and after a few shots I realized I was right next to a beehive. A short reenactment of Tommy Boy later, we were back on the road.

After successfully avoiding bee stings and making it to South Dakota, we pulled in for the night at Yankton, SD, after crossing Gavin’s Point Dam. Successful first ...
