It's hard to leave Bend, but at least I can take solace knowing I will be back soon! As I was getting ready this morning, thinking about where to go next, I decided to take a chance. My brother and Dad are on the mainland for the weekend, so off to Vegas I go! I texted everyone, got some lunch with Levi and ...

The big, smooth rock trails were pahoehoe ...

      ... t pull us over.

They just stared. Whew. Illinois was definitely the most aggressive and abusive; Kirk thinks it’s because there’s a lot of drug running going on through 80 in the area.

We drove thru WY, Utah, Nevada … almost to the border of California! After 12 hours, almost home and it can’t be soon enough. Great trip, good memories and fun with KP … miss my new home, Leroy and being on land more than in a car. ...

... family. Our dinner break was at Chili's and then a quick Starbucks stop before we got back on the road.
Lisa was able to convince Eric to get us to Fallon so we could rest and get a good night's sleep before we drive all day to the Grand Canyon on Sunday. We aren't all that far from my home at this point but it was definitely a full day.
