... The gate was shut but we didn't plan these detours for nothing, so I parked in the least sketchy way possible so we could hop the fence and run through the mud up to our giant rock thingies. After driving up from Lake City, we spent a great weekend with Jamie and Kristen. They made a turkey dinner for us with all the trimmings and we relaxed at their house on Saturday. On Sunday we drove out to the Chickamauga Battlefield National Park, watched a video and toured the park. ... was about 100 yards below the trail I should have been on. I did some rock scrambling, some climbing on hands and knees, and scaled a vertical wall using just some holes in the rocks to climb up. Luckily, I found the old trail and followed it back to the campsite. That was some serious off-trail hiking!
That night, I started a nice fire, drank some beers and listened to Thursday Night football on the radio. What an amazing day of hiking and first night in the woods!!!
