Our day started about 9am on the road. We crossed over the Indiana border and saw gorgeous farm fields. We also saw another Amish family in their buggy with little kids running around the buggy in large brimmed straw hats. For lunch I thought I had an amazing idea to go into a wildlife refuge center and find a place to picnic. WRONG there was no place to park and I got us a little turned around in this huge place! An interesting geological feature of the counties that we traveled through, other than the caves, was the presence of naturally occurring rock asphalt. The asphalt can be laid without heating and does not buckle in heat or ...

Stopped at Mammoth Cave National Park on our way out of Kentucky. Its the largest cave system in the world and so amazing. Our tour was 2 hours long and only cost us $12 a piece. Some places were so tight you had to squat to get through and others were so wide open it was like being in a cathedral.

Author's note: Sorry the pictures are so fuzzy. There was very little light (naturally) and so the photos came out blurry.
