... steps, in real terms for what our options are, we engaged a lawyer, one who specialised in Immigration. Our options came down from 4 to 2.

1 - the most preferable option, initially, is that I get a job and they sponsor a working visa for me. In this case, I would be back in the UK as planned in April, apply for the working visa and re-enter the USA on that visa.
2 - we can apply for a fiance visa, however this costs money and could take up to 5 months ...
