Made it to Fargo, Day 2

Made it to Fargo, ND today. It snowed this morning in Wisconsin and we met Emmy's friend for lunch in Minneapolis, MN.
We also stopped at an REI for a few minutes.

Roads in Minnesota this evening were icy in spots and it was very windy, but we went slow and made it here safely.

Sorry, there isn't much else to say since we haven't done any sight seeing yet. Planning on entering Canada tomorrow, so things should become more interesting.

The day of the wedding finally dawned and after visiting with more relatives we headed for St. Michael's Church in Grand Forks. It reminded me very much of our cathedral in downtown Nashville, except they still had a lot of statuary surrounding the main altar. The wedding was one of the most beautiful I had attended in a long time. The priest did a great job and it was obvious that he knew both the ...

... to the Mall of America. I have always wanted to go there since I was a kid. It was intriguing to me though with all of the technological advances and amusement places these days, it isn't as amazing as it used to be to see an amusement park in a mall. I expected a redo of yesterday's indoor kid frenzy nightmare. Much to my surprise, it was really nice. Looked like Great Lakes Crossing inside but safer like Somerset. Nice stores and ...

      The longest departure EVER

A travel blog entry by veschmidt45 on Jan 10, 2014

Our lively adventure started with a high stress departure. First of all, we are four days late in leaving for this trip. Our scheduled departure was Monday, January 6, but due to extreme cold around the country and various other reasons, our flight from Fargo to Chicago was canceled. That meant we could not make our connection out of Chicago, so everything got backed up. The flights through Chicago to Seoul, Korea, and on into Viet Nam were all sold out, which is why ...

... happy to change my flights at no cost and no questions asked. Apparently, I had an angel looking out for me because my original flight was delayed and I made it on that flight and made my connection to London later that night later in Chicago. After a long stressful day in Fargo I was ready to make the next leg of the trip to ...
