    ... back at the hotel for a quick turnaround as booked to see a Kung Fu show tonight. This was astounding. About 30 people doing a London type show of Kung Fu. Back to the hotel after for a big surprise. The whole group sitting round waiting for me with a birthday cake and candles. They all sang and it was very embarrassing.     Suzhou is famed for its private gardens, canals and silk and is frequently compared with Venice as 42% of the area of the city is covered by water. Suzhou is in the middle of the Yangtze Delta.     And so, ticket crisis solved, Molly, Juliet, Georgie and I set off for the train station on Thursday afternoon a bit later than originally planned. We arrived in Suzhou and caught the metro to our hostel, which turned out to be in a very pretty area near a canal with all sorts of lanterns and other lights around it.
