Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China steve009... he looks much older than me he's only 31. I ask him how much he makes for each 1,200 km trip, he says about 500 yuan. He says he can make the trip 20 times a month. He's got two sons, a wife, a nephew, both of his parents to support. Where he comes from he has to save money for his sons' wedding and the construction of their new home when they get married. It cost 60,000 yuan to find a wife and 100,000 to 150,000 to build a new house. He admits he'll ...

Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China trow814... m either traveling or working a lot on the weekends, I usually never can but this Sunday I made a point not to schedule any lessons so could go. We took two cars out to Dragon Lake- about an hour outside the city. It was beautiful. We went on a speed boat, then went on a paddle boat, then caught some worm-fish things, had a nice picnic and relaxed by the water. It was great. Hoping to be able to go out with them again sometime before I leave. I really like both of their families.
Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China trow814... fertile land that boasts splendid cultural history. As such, Shijiazhuang is home to many significant cultural relics, such as the oldest stone-arch bridge in China, Zhaozhou Bridge, and one of China's three hanging temples Qiaoloudian Hall (Bridge-Tower Hall). Moreover, the grand Taihang ...
Shijiazhuang, China chinatravelSince we've been back from our big trip, I've been a teach-aholic. On top of my Mon-Fri job at 42 Middle School, I've been teaching several new people though Mickey's Company, meeting with Young Young 4 nights a week, teaching at a new Foreign Language School 3-4 nights a week, and teaching at a Kindergarten twice week. My middle school students have been much better lately. They're still ridiculously loud and I still have ...
Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China trow814... 7 day holiday is from September 29th to October 5th" I'd say "Women da jia qi shi cong jiu yue er shi jiu hao dao shi yue wu hao." Of course there are 4 different tones in chinese which are expressed by different accent marks above vowels to distinguish what word you are meaning so this makes learning pretty difficult. A couple of my students brought me the newspaper articles that we were in- one for Teacher's Day and the other for Mid-Autumn ...
Shijiazhuang, China trow814... The area where the party was set up at was so breath taking! There were probably 50 tables all with a bottle of coke and sprite, and also two bottles of bi jio (there alcohol) and 12 pi jio (beer). Chinese lanterns were hung throughout and the water was right next to us. (Later that night we were able to see the moon in all it's glory among the trees and stars) We were directed to a table ...
Shijiazhuang, China billiechristine... did the same lesson I did last week because I didn't have Monday classes last week due to orientation. Billie and I have chatted a few times today- she just got here on saturday. She got a cell phone today so it's gonna be easier to get ahold of one another. We're gonna do dinner tomorrow night. Helen just came by with my computer!! Good news- it was just the charger that was blown so she was able to go to a place with HP products and buy ...
Shijiazhuang, China trow814... Just outside the main gate is a huge flower sculpture depicting various Olympic events. To say that China is taking their job as Olympic hosts seriously is an major understatement. Virtually any where you go in the city, new flowers have been planted, new streets and pedestrian overapasses have been built, new buildings erected, a new subway line is being added to the existing lines primarily to serve Olympic venues. On the campus of BNU, a huge new building is under ...
