      ... was in order. Big day. Woke to a fine but cooler morning. Sightseeing on the agenda today. Our first stop was FDR's house at Hyde Park. We saw a short film & then took a tour of the house. Really interesting & now have to go home & read up on him. Sounds like an American Gough Whitlam & the whole Polio/never being seen in a wheelchair thing is so unbelievable.       ... turn & run which is what we instinctively felt was the best option. I asked a parking guy in a uniform (white guy finally) for a lunch recommendation. We didn't find the places he spoke of but we did find a weird place - large, only other people were a black couple with a 1 year old, he was huuuuuge wearing a basketball singlet, she didn't speak, baby's name was Christopher.       Not sure I remember much about the morning before we arrived in Hyde Park to visit the FDR site. I still am a bit confused - having been excited by the fact that the National Park Service ran something here....but not everything.
