In 1951 a well known radio station called WMB started recording the music from there every Friday and Saturday night, which was mainly gospel, until one evening the main singer did not turn up so a man played his fiddle for the hour. Everyone went wild and from then on, country music was played ...

As I set down to write this blog it is 11.15 at night, having been to a show at Grand Ole OPRY. This morning we left for Opryland/ Music Valley, on arriving we went to buy tickets for the show, and all that was left was standing only tickets!! ... I now know why they call the Mississippi "Big Muddy".  They've definitely had some flooding recently.  Every river was over the banks and in the corn fields. After we checked in to our room, we scoped out the hotel guest laundry and pool and went a few doors down the street for dinner.  Unfortunately, the hotel's "Hot Breakfast" consisted of oatmeal and "Instant" grits.  Tomorrow we're eating at the Shoney's right next door. After breakfast, it was off ...

Hit the BP station in Metropolis, IL randomly and the boys were excited to find out that it's Superman's hometown. Even the gas station had these sweet cutouts to pose with. They want to collect stickers from all of the states as we travel so we were able to get a fun one. As we travel further south the people seem to get more polite. Less fashionable perhaps but definitely kinder and more considerate. Made it to Kentucky!!! ...
