    Hit the BP station in Metropolis, IL randomly and the boys were excited to find out that it's Superman's hometown. Even the gas station had these sweet cutouts to pose with. They want to collect stickers from all of the states as we travel so we were able to get a fun one. As we travel further south the people seem to get more polite. Less fashionable perhaps but definitely kinder and more considerate. Made it to Kentucky!!! ...

In the early evening I drove into the Land Between the Lakes recreation area to try and find the primarily-submerged location of Fort Henry, and although I made a quick walk to the shoreline near the historic location I wasn't able to take the time to explore the trails leading to the few remaining rifle pits ...

    ... at the Blackhorse Pub and sampled some of their home brew. Wanted to catch the show at the Roxy, but the theater was dark. Clarksville is a great town with large number of breweries, wineries, and distilleries. It is also on the Civil War trail and well worth a stop if you are traveling this way.

    ... facility where the candidates for this unit undergo selection training. This may not sound all that exciting, except for the fact that they are housed in old ammunition bunkers in what used to be an old Cold War nuclear weapons storage area. There were lots of remnants of this period, complete with concrete "pill boxes" that used to be where the sentries used to be stationed.
