    Superb Super 8

    from

When a business associate recommended this hotel, I had my doubts. Turns out it is a new facility and an excellent accommodation. Our room would class as a suite. Everything was clean, the staff was excellent, and the place was quiet. The location is convenient to downtown Austin. I would stay again.

    Herrliches Super 8

    from

    Super 8 superlativo

    from

Ci tornerei.

    Loved this place!!

    from

We just returned from 6 nites in Austin. Because it was a very busy weekend for conferences, we ended up staying in 3 different places: the Austin Motel, Adams House B and B, and this Super 8. All were priced about $100 per nite, give or take with taxes. The 1st two were our real choices but neither had rooms for the weekend. But we were surprised that the Super 8 was by far the most comfortable. Each Super 8 is individually owned and the Kumars, who own this one, make every effort to insure a comfortable stay. There is a great deal of sweetness in the desk staff as well as a lovely welcome letter from Mr. Kumar. The comforts are numerous. First off, the bed is super comfortable with lovely soft linens. The TV has DVD and VHS built in . There are black out curtains so that sleeping late is easy. There is a free massage chair in the lobby that eased the travel tensions. The breakfast is more than continental and fabulous dessers are set out each evening. Coffee is always available. Everything appears new and spotless. Should we have wanted to, we could have done our laundry there. Last year we stayed at the downtown Hyatt and not to diminish the Hyatt, the care and quality of this property is just as nice. It isn't far from the downtown part of the city, but having a car is absolutely necessary.

A Suite is not really a suite

    from

We stayed in the incredibly large Family Suite, which is really just a very large room and not a suite at all. There is an arch on the ceiling that seperates the seating area from the bed area, but NO DOOR. We were intending to put the baby to bed in the bedroom and close the door so we could watch TV, but that obviously wasn't possible. We ended up having to keep her awake a little late and we all went to bed at the same time. We also liked the full kitchen idea, but it had NOTHING in the numerous cabinets to use in the kitchen. A few dishes, but they were grimy and there was no dish soap or scrubby thing, so we couldn't use them. No silverware, no bowls, no pots/pans, no hot pads. All empty cabinets. A brand new stove and no way to use it! So we had to use all plastic and styrofoam anyway, which I HATE!

The TV was enormous, the pillows were plentiful, the bed was SUPER comfortable, the staff was very nice. The breakfast was better than your average continental. The location was a little out of the way from downtown (you have to have a car with you, not walkable to anything) but easy to find if you don't use the crappy map we had!

Just Have Your Own Transportation...Otherwise, A Good Value

    from

Since we were not familiar with the Austin area this hotel seemed to have what we needed. We just needed a one night stay and a shuttle to the airport. Upon arriving the desk person was friendly. The advertising from the hotel site stated 24-hour shuttle service but when we checked in asked for a shuttle to return us to the hotel after dropping off our rental car. The hotel was only about 2 miles away. She informed us that all shuttle service had to be scheduled in advance. When telling her it was in advance of a few hours she said there was no shuttle available. So, instead of returning our rental car to the airport and saving a day's rental charge we had to keep it for another night to drive ourselves back to the airport in the morning. After adding up what a cab would have cost, it was not worth the hassle. They say they will pick you up from the airport and return you there but it was not so for us. The room was comfortable but very noisy from neighboring rooms. There was a snoring man next door that vibrated through the walls. You could hear the people walking in the rooms one floor up clearly. Nice shower and a good supply of towels and pillows. A coffee maker was supplied as well as the necessary toiletries. The air conditioner worked well. They serve a continental type breakfast starting at 6am but we skipped that. There were several other hotels we saw that looked closer to the airport and one right on the airport property. That will be our next visit.

    Wir hatten einen herrlichen Aufenthalt!!!

    from

    from

    Had a Wonderful Stay !!!

    from

This place is not like your regular Super 8. They have a 27inch flat screen TV (few of the rooms have even a 72 inch) ,DVD player, VCR , all in their standard room. They have a complimentary business center and fitness center all free !!!! For about 70-80 bucks/day this place is really awesome. They have a complimentary breakfast and evening snacks served daily. They even have DVD rentals in the lobby. All together I think this is a great place to stay in Austin when on a budget. Would definitely stay here again.

    Absolutely magnificent!

My husband and I ran accross this hotel after having a terrible experience with another

hotel which I really don't care to mention. Now, when we saw it we thought super 8, not really knowing what to expect. But this super 8 is not like your average super 8, it is a really fabulous place to stay. It really exceeded all of my expectations. Plush bedding plasma tv's throughtout the hotel even in the elevator. Evening snacks and great continental breakfast. Not to mention the wonderful people working there, they do their best to make your stay really comfortable. If your traveling with children I want to mention that they offer dvd and vhs players built in to the tv's. They also offer a wide veriety of movies for rent for a small fee. Another plus is that you can check in at 2:00 and check out isn't unitl noon, not many hotels offer that any more . The hotel is not very far from downtown, and the front desk offers you a map to many popular locations and did mention when you check in you'll recieve a goodie bag filled with all kinds of stuff. I will definetly be back!

... car. Chris had wanted to go to a business event happening downtown but we ended up getting there a little late and he couldn’t find the right entrance to the event. We decided to do a little work in a Starbucks instead. We did some laundry and then made our way to Bastrop State Park. It was a little pricey but we didn’t feel like sleeping in a Walmart and we really needed a good shower. It was pretty much empty so we had a nice quiet ...

... has one, which is used by Noah to play games. Milo got an identical one a few weeks before the trip. He bought it with money he earned while doing administrative work (shredding, scanning) for Mark. One of the reasons he used to convince us he needed one was that it would allow him to "read the news". Whenever he's been playing too many games on it, we tend to ask him "what's in the news today Milo?" But, again, it's amazing how ...

And then yes...we really did take a nap.

At night is was time for Austin's answer to San Francisco's Beach Blanket Babylon (but without the drag queens and massively heavy hats). It was a very fun show with singing/magic/bad jokes. It turns out the cheap seats are the first 4 rows, so you have to pay more if you don't want to ...

    A Little Background

A travel blog entry by gravittkiki on Jun 19, 2013

A little over a year ago I had decided that I wanted to start a family and I started the adoption process. At that time I was living in Salalah, Oman. I found an agency, started gathering needed documentation, and was getting ready for a social worker to come to my house in Salalah for the home study. I then received a job offer in Stuttgart Germany. I felt that this would be a better place to raise these children that I did not even have yet. ...

    From Dad...

Monday night, during a pleasant evening stroll across the campus, I stepped on a snake with bare feet and got a small bite. Fortunately, despite its alarming size and girth, it was a harmless snake, and did no more than provide a bit of gossip to spread throughout the group.

Tuesday and Wednesday were as full as Monday, with an added Madrigal sing a great faculty ...
