Thanks to our friends Diane and Rick Cross, we've had a wonderful few days here at Texas Motor Speedway - the only downers were a couple of very cold nights and the fact that the trailers backed up to us left their huge and noisy generators running all night long, every night! But even that couldn't dampen the fun of time spent with good friends, enjoying good racing, and a win by "my" guy, Jimmie Johnson, #48!

Saying goodbye is always so tough & today was no different as we parted ways with our friends. They headed south to Houston & we headed West to Dallas. I loaded them up with Elvis memorabilia to pass on to my mum & we left them & drove West to Parker, Texas & the SouthFork Ranch! The ranch house was lovely but really had no real relevance to the Dallas show as the show only ever filmed outside. ...

... to another station and met a couple from Dubbo who had come in on the same flight as us and were waiting for the same train to Dallas Fort Worth. Bit of a wait so we found a nice deli and enjoyed lunch together. TRE train to DFW (still on our $10 ticket). Spent some interesting time at FW Stockyards - still the place where cowboys gather. Fascinating!

From here i had a look at a few shops including Wild bills western place – a place to get cowboy stuff, i got a shirt to wear tonight. From the shops i had a look around the general area then went to the Renascence tower – this is a building that has a big pyramid in front of it, done by the same guy who did the pyramid at the Louvre. Inside i got lunch, walked around, then left.
