... fun. After the show, we went to lunch with the crew at the wonderful hometown restaurant next door called Lunde's. They stayed open past their normal lunch hours just for us. I had a fried catfish po'boy, and was full for the rest of the day. The guys then invited us to their house this Saturday on our drive up to Decatur, AL from New Orleans. We'll see if we make it, but I bet it would be fun if we do.
... the Civil Rights Memorial that was created by Maya Lin (the same woman that designed the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC). The memorial is a large round disk that is engraved with a time line of the of the most significant events of the civil rights movement. Black granite with dates and memories of struggle, prejudice, sacrifice, resistance and deaths, persecution and changes in our legal system were there in a dramatic, yet subtle ...
Montgomery, Alabama, United States jodieandandy... easy to feel the center and heart of family life in this wonderful old home.
Young hunts and fishes bringing dinner to the table and filling their freezer every year with venison. Suzy and Young are as down to earth with their hunting and gardening and canning as they are elegant in their beautiful home. They represent the two worlds with ease as they arrange for us to go to their farm, "Glen Thistle"
Off we go in the SUV about an hours drive to a long unpaved driveway. Through ...
... baked us a pork roast with apples and has donated a HUGE bag of freshly cut greens from her garden. Marney cooked them up to be tender and pungent! She added side dishes of fresh black eyed peas (served with Suzys homemade pepper relish) and roasted sweet potato fries to create a dinner we all enjoyed thoroughly. Herbert, Suzy and Young’s youngest son joined us and let

I dropped Luba off at the Savannah airport this morning at 5am. It was hard to see her off. We had the best time ever.
I had taken all side roads today all the way from Savannah. Traveled almost 600 miles before stopping for the day. I rode mostly on US 80 the entire day. I love riding on two lane roads. Its a great way to see the country side.
Stopped in Montgomery, Al. It just will not stop raining. Need a break. Waiting for the weather to ...
Believe it or not, there are 54 Championship Holes at the Capitol Hill Golf Course in Prattville, AL that are part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Jerry took the opportunity to get in a round of golf and was amazed at the beauty and pristinely maintained course.
While Jerry was hitting a small ball around Prattville, Alex & I spent some time in the pool to cool off. Bella used to jump into the pool to me when she was a puppy, but I couldn't ...
We left the Gulf Coast today and headed into Alabama to visit with Aunt Kathy and Uncle D. I used to live with Aunt Kathy and Uncle D in Florida. But I haven't been to visit then in Alabama for the last 5 years. What a great reunion.
My cousin Jackie cooked up some homemade lasagna and these ...
... time at nearby Capitol Hill golf course (three 18's and part of the highly rated Robert Trent Jones Golf Circuit throughout Alabama). We didn't want to wait for the premier "Judge" 18 (rated top 10 public courses in the US) and so went with the nearly equally difficult "Legislator". Course kicked our asses - I will go back and play the entire circuit at some point - hopefully when I learn to play properly. We head for barbeque ...
Montgomery, Alabama, United States tednims... us, my theory is sometimes she's cold (the satellite receiver that is) sometimes the weather is very overcast, sometimes she's slipped and is not in the right position, sometimes we're deep in a valley... well what ever - sometimes she takes a while to find us. This can be an issue if we have a tricky route out of a city, but today it was straightforward, out of the camp site - turn right, a couple of other turns at ...

Got my bags, went up to the room and took care of things- then noticed that the bed had a very serious sag in the middle. And there was no other furniture but a t.v. on a low dresser circa 1970. Now, the fact that there were only four other cars in the parking lot also had alarm bells going off, but, hey, on an adventure right? And what the hell, gotta hit a less than perfect hotel once in a while on an ...
