... Lake in Cypress National Preserve next to Everglades National Park. There are no services (water, electric or sewer) but we are so happy to be out in the wilderness with no major road or train nearby! Saturday 8th March we set off for our first holiday since arriving in NY. In the afternoon we kayaked though a mangrove swamp and soon encountered a 7 foot alligator. It was lying in wait, but our guide (Jeremy) paddled over to it and slammed his paddle on the water. This provoked the 'gator to slide off into the lake.
