Historical Traveler Reviews Sunset Vistas Beachfront Suites Treasure Island

      Treasure in Treasure Island

      from

Wow, what a treasure! My husband and I had a beautiful one night stay at the Sunset Vistas. Our suite was hugh. It had two bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen, living/dining room, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed the view of the ocean. Oh my, the sunset was to die for. We live in Tampa, only 40 minutes away and can't wait to find a reason to return. The staff members were exceptional. This is a new hotel and it looked liked my suite had never been lived in.

      Wonderful, relaxing hotel

      from

What a wonderful place. Brand new and everyone was very accommodating! Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were two-bedrooms with 2 baths. The room we stayed in was handicap accessible per my request. However, due to the three elevators placed convienently around the property, we will not need handicap accessible rooms next time and are looking forward to staying in one of the gulf front suites. the two pools, one a kiddie pool, were nice when I wanted to take a break from swimming and my girls wanted to continue! However, the pools could use a little more use of the heater, as the water was like ice the first two days.

The beach was beautiful. Easy access.

The cafe was a godsend! It was so nice to be able to walk to the cafe for breakfast and lunch without having to get overly dressed. And Cindy was very nice!

Thank you so much for a relaxing, much needed vacation!

The Best Week Of My Life

      from

After spending countless hours on the computer looking for somewhere to stay . I finally found Sunset Vistas. We were there from 10-31 to 11-03-06 . The rooms were perfect. The view was absolutely breathtaking. I couldnt have found anything better even if it were to fall from heaven..

Beautiful place with a great staff.

      from

My husband and family were exhausted from traveling and dealing with negative interactions along the beaches in Treasure Island, Florida. We had gone to many different hotels and some just didn't have the space we were looking for and others were just down right rude. My husband noticed Sunset Vistas from the highway, and decided to stop there(thinking to ourselves, "This is going to cost a fortune")even though from the appearance it seemed a little out of our price range. To our wonderful surprise the prices were reasonable, and the units were very spacious. The rooms were gorgeous and the property itself was just stunning. We were a total of 3 families that had to book rooms in seperate parts of the hotel because of the busy weekend. Having so much luggage and a total of 6 children between all 3 families, just simply settling into a room is a more difficult task than one can imagine. Tired, with a group of tired children, finding our rooms became an even more difficult task. That was until the manager , Wade, literally left the desk to personally help us with our luggage and find our rooms in our disoriented states. This was certainly above and beyond his call of duty. In the morning another manager, Matt, allowed us a late check out because we had arrived at the resort pretty late. It is nice to see a caring staff that compliments their beautiful hotel. We will certainly spread the word, and hope to return to this lovely hotel in June. Thanks to all, and keep up the good work.

      Nice hotel still improving

      from

This seems to be a brand new hotel on a strip of hotels on treasure island. I chose this place because I wanted to be ON the beach, which this place was. It also has a swimming pool and hot tub which were also nice. When we went there were only a few other visitors to the hotel so we pretty much had the pool and the beach to ourselves which made the stay wonderful. The water was warm and the sand was very nice. At the time when we were there, there were no waves, so swimming was very easy and pleasant.

They do have only one parking space per resident which was a bit ridiculous when practically no one was there. Also, the cleaning solution or something they use in the hallways smells very bad. The inside of our two bedroom suite, however, was clean and nice and with a full kitchen (which I would recommend using since there aren't a ton of dining options very nearby). It also had two bathrooms and two TVs with built-in VCR/DVD. However, the hotel front desk does not have any DVDs for rent, so you'll have to bring your own or find the video store (the desk clerk did not know where it was).

They do have wireless internet access but only around their newly built cafe (which, by the way, doesn't seem to have regular hours yet, it was always closed when I wanted to go there) and in their computer room (one computer and a printer). The tiki bar is now open, but wasn't automatically linked to our room cards, so I never got around to ordering anything there.

      No housekeeping at sunset vista

      from

Our stay was from 08/26 - 09/02/06. The propery was lovely, the suite beautiful. We got to check in early, so there were still the previous tenant's dirty towels on the floor. Spacious 2 bdrm, full kitchen. The kitchen was supposed to be fully equipped, but it wasn't. There were only 5 plates, we couldn't eat 2 meals without running the dishwasher that we had no soap for. We checked in on Sat., by Wed. we began calling the desk to see when someone would come clean the floors. We had a broom, but no other cleaning equip. On Thurs they brought us a mop. So much for that housekeeping service. Everyone at the desk was nice, but no results. Having stayed in "suites" before, I understood that we should take care of alot of the cleaning. But I'm pretty sure it was not cleaned before we arrived. We had an infant, there were no childproof locks on cabinets or for electric outlets. They provided a crib which they assured us would fit in the bedroom. It did not, had to go in the living room.

The best thing about our stay was the view, all rooms are angled so that the view of the beach is great!

      Sunset Vistas Were Perfect

      from

We found the hotel through a web search and then called the property directly to book our Labor Day weekend trip. The price was perfect and well worth it...just over $200 a night. We had a beach front, 2 bedroom/2 full bath suite overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. (We were later told the price goes down to around $189 if you book a min of 5 nights) We were looking for a room with two beds and a small kitchen within our budget. We are very selective when it comes to where we choose to stay. Comfort, a nice view and decor are important to us, with out the large resort style atmosphere. We were bringing our son and nephew so it was also important to have some room and a place to prepare meals to cut back on dinning costs. Needless to say, with all that we were looking for, it was difficult to find a hotel room with the price we had in mind. We came across Sunset Vistas and loved the layout of the rooms and the decor. The suites/condos were decorated with a contemporary "Tommy Bahama" style, with tile floors and granite counter tops. The appliances were new and the suites were very neat and clean. We later found out that the property was only a couple of months old. It had two pools on opposite ends of the building, beautifully landscaped and right on the beach. They had also just opened a beach front bar the weekend we were there and had a small cafe serving breakfast and lunch. The property had ALL that we were looking for at a very affordable price. We will definately be back...very soon!

Thanks Sunset Vistas for a perfect Labor Day weekend! M & W from Longwood, FL

Super Nice - Beats your Typical Hotel Experience

      from

Sunset Vistas is a great place for families. Why stay at the local hotel, when you can stay at a brand new tastefully furnished 2 bedroom condo directly on the beach. Our family had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The only drawback is the facilty is new and the cafe and pool bar were not yet open.

During the drive home and the discussion back and forth I realized I come here not only for the lack of winter but the beach and being outside, looking for the birds, etc. The w/c house. Paul and I both liked this house when we found it ourselves during an open house. Very open floor plan. When you walk in the front door you immediately have a view of the lake behind the house. The entire back of the house has a huge ...

"If you need anything off island you have to go very early in the morning or after dark." " if you want to go out to eat you need to do it during the week or very early or late at night". It takes a little planning but isn't as bad as I expected. I was getting bored (really) so ...

In the last hour, we found two of the best rides of the whole trip - a dangle-down roller coaster that did loops without the discomfort of rattly-brain syndrome, and Cheetah Hunt that was wonderfully smooth and fast. Well finally daylight came, I got both bikes out the garage and took Di's for a short spin down the road just to make sure it was gonna be ok for her (thanks Tammy for the loan), eventually after Di was ready we set off. I took it really slow to begin with while Di got used to the bike, I think what made it worse was, it is somebody else's bike and she is afraid of damaging it. After ...
