So,
Went to the masaya markets, makes you really wonder why Canadian Health organizations are so anal retentive about sanitary practices. There are pieces of meat, sitting in blazing heat, with flies all over them, everywhere. You can also buy half dead chickens, vegetarians must just be ******. Started my spanish classes as well. Fun Fact: the word Papaya in Cuba, means vagina... could get very confusing if you happen to be ...

My name is Rachelle, and I wear sport sandals

... on a cobble stone road, through the jungle, in the 30 degree weather. Lets just say, my ass will never recover. It was so steep, on the walk down, we had to walk backwards just to spare the wear and tear on our knees. This hike made the Grouse Grind look like a highway in the prairies. But all in all, it was worth it for the experience. How many people do you know who can say: " I climbed a volcano with a ninja named Jackie Chan." Seriously, so worth it.

Spice Island - Grenada

... get around the marina and I see this giant 2 story Party Boat. Sure, it was a Motorized catamaran...but not a Sail equipped Catamaran!!! At this point, what do you do....we got on the boat and thought we'd make the most of it. There was a nice Steel Band and the crew was nice enough, but that was where the good eneded. The sail over to Morne Rouge beach was crazy rough, especially if ...

Grenada's highlights & scenic drive

... the island to Greenville and then on to Grand Etang Lake in Grand Etang National Park passing along the way verdant grove of bananas, cocoa, nutmeg and other spices. Once there, we enjoyed a complimentary beverage while taking the views of the lake which is located in the crater of an extinct volcano. Cooool!

Along the way, we also stopped at a small fishermen's village near the ocean to admire the deep blue ocean ...

Back to the cricket on Day 3

... break from it. The air conditioned shopping mall bringing much welcome relief from the stinging sun and the high humidity but not revealing as much of the local people, their way of life and the culture. Everyone we meet in the street seems very friendly and warmly welcoming. A lot of the market goods was spices (being the so-called Spice Island) but we could not buy as it cannot come back into Aust. Stopped at the Coffee House and checked emails and then dinner at ...

Change of plans

... He still hadnt finished packing either! So we loaded up the taxi with aisha, haley and amy's stuff and just had to wait. Then about 15 mins later he come bombing up the hill with no top on, then calmly walks past the taxi as if nothing has happened, muttering under his breath "play it cool si, play it cool". Was such a funny sight. He was also still utterly ******, and we were wondering if they would let him on the plane or not. So after watching him try to negotiate his trolley-bag ...

... to be. At first i was totally hyperventilating, not being used to breathing through the tube, so naturally i ended up draining the sea of a few gallons of salt water and replacing it with the contents of my lungs! But as i calmed down it was quite easy going. And then the coral started appearing. It wasnt like i expected, looked almost like big toadstools just sat on the floor. It was quite good at the cliff edge coz u could see all sorts of things coming off the ...

Catch-up

... I decided it was too far away from bus routes etc and the beach that I would need the car again. I definitely cant afford that again, so Ive spoken to the mad woman and told her that I wont be able to stay there. Also managed to find a room at the place where all the girls are staying at the moment which is just along from the beach, perfect! So its been a pretty eventful week, oh and ive done a bit of radiology as well :) I actually got taken over to the other side ...

Grenada, West Indies

... was being piloted by our good friend, Mark! Four and a half hours to San Juan, PR then on to another flight for 2 hour journey to Point Salines Airport. We arrived after dark. Short and sweet drive to the hotel on twisty roads with people out walking on the edges, goats/cows grazing and exotic smells. We arrived at the Coyaba on Grand Anse Beach around 8pm...a hotel with no door! Just a breezeway into the lobby/bar area. We'd walk through the garden ...
