... around 10pm, z hotel New York in Long Island city, would have liked to stay in Manhattan but the budget didn't allow that, this was much cheaper and had stunning view of skyline from the bed. Day 2 Woke up early due to jet lag so went for a morning run, nice to run around as it is in a residential not a tourist area. Unfortunately I didn't pack my phone and I ended up getting lost quite badly. Eventually found my way back in time for breakfast. Very confusing system where ...

... was a welcome change from the prior day. Colleen and Sue lounged by the pool, and Tony and I did some people watching.

We had a nice time on Fremont St and even went to the new "container" section, where all the shops are housed in old shipping containers.

We had dinner in the Asian restaurant and it was top of the line asian.

Tomorrow is our trip to Grand Canyon and goodbye to our best friends.

We had a well deserved lie in this morning and then checked out. Driving to Death Valley from Las Vegas. As we were leaving Las Vegas it was grey and raining! However it's sunny here but thankfully due to the rain it's not as hot as it could be. Our hotel is called Furnace Creek Ranch it is like an old style cowboy ranch with a general store, saloon, cafe and restaurant. There is also a spring fed pool. We are here for one night and then have a long drive tomorrow to Yosemite. ...

A wet ride to Las Vegas

... and I was soaked from head to toe by the time we got to Las Vegas.

I had to get new rain gear ASAP. I could keep trying to dry my boots and clothes and freezing while riding.

The Golden Nugget was right on Fremont St., and we loved the ease of walking around and viewing all the crazies in Vegas. We had a good prime rib buffet at Binions and called it a night early as we were beat from the ride.

It was only 142 miles, but the last 30 were cold and wet!
