... having decided that my issues this morning were nothing to do with hot sauce, and more to do with not drinking enough! Oh boy, their burritos are GOOD. So while we were waiting for the doctor to come, a nurse came in and took Petes catheter out. Yah, we thought, we are looking good for discharge. Then he comes back and puts a new line in Petes arm, not only that but he squirts blood all over the place while doing it. Pretty rough, so there's blood all over Petes gown and 15 ...

Best Family Vacation our Family Ever Had!!!
I booked this vacation for my family site unseen so I hoped for the best as my family would nailed me to a cross if it failed to meet their standards. The place was terrific and beautiful. My son had his only villa room and my husband and I had the downstairs in the villa. We had the best service from the staff. We found them to be very friendly and honest. The food and drinks were great and my son who is 15 yrs had the greatest time of his life. All the beach activities were just outside of the back of the hotel. The staff put on shows every night and they were ok. At the end of the vacation, they had a show to say farwell to all the families and gave out certificates to each of us. It was a nice final touch. We hated to leave. My son wants to move there!!!!
Sunset Lagoon was a wonderful resort and well-worth spending your vacation at. The staff were all wonderful, they got to know you personally and were all so nice, were fun and did wanted to make your trip as best as possible. The rooms are really nice, very cozy, with lots of room and just about everything you need. The resort is on the Lagoon side of Mexico but you can go over to Royal Sunset a sister hotel anytime to be on the ocean beach, it was really nice and they have a shuttle to take you there all day long. The pool area and beach area are really nice and kept up. The food was pretty good, got kind of sick of it by the end of the week, but for the most part they do a good job (Just have to watch what you eat). My boyfriend got sick on the last day, we weren't sure if it was the food or just the flu. I would stay there again if I go back to Cancun, I got back two days ago and miss it already, especially the staff they are wonderful.
Sunset Lagoon was a great little hotel. We did run into some problems but only because of the weather. Our room was nice and clean but flooded one night because of some hard rain so I would suggest reserving a room that is above ground or make sure all your belongings are off the floor. We had to walk down 2 stairs to get to our room. The hotel was very accomodating but only if you put up a fuss. They washed all of our clothes and upgraded us to the sister hotel, Royal Sunset. Although the Royal Sunset had a beautiful ocean and beach, we preferred the Sunset Lagoon. The buffet was better at the Lagoon. We actually found the food at the Royal not very good at all. We heard the a la carte restaurant was wonderful but unfortuneatley kept forgetting to make our reservation. The staff at the Sunset Lagoon are very friendly and because of it's small size they were able to interact with everybody. It was very quaint and cozy.
Just got back from Cancun the Sunshet lagoon is a great little hotel. I left my safe open and security was on top of it. everything in it was there. I bought a club membership last year but culd not get reservations until I told them that if they did not give me rooms that I would not pay them. If you do not have an all inclusive contract you will have a hard time getting reservation. The new time share consept that they are pushing is that if you pay them 19K dollars and they will turn and rent your time share to other people so that you can make money. dont you belive it. THey can even meet their commitments with the old contracts. THey have oversold booth the Sunset Lagoon and the Royal Sunset and are unable to make reservations for the present members let alone for new ones. THey are booth great Hotels but if you buy their timeshares they are worthless you are wasting your hard earned money. be wise.
This place was terrible. Even worse it is a time share nightmare... They will look to every angle to get you into there timeshare. It is a problem from day 1. Do not go do not buy the timeshare.
My husband and I took some friends to stay at the Sunset Lagoon Hotel for a week and did we have fun! My In-Laws own a time share there and were willing to take our kids and let us use it (what saints!).
Sunset Lagoon & Marina
We stayed at the Sunset Lagoon as a gift from a relative. The relative owns a timeshare - the rooms we nice - with a kitchen and eating area.
The floors are marble - which makes it slippery when wet!
Housekeeping was great - she gave us extra towels everyday (as we requested on our first day).
There is a lot of pressure to sit through a "presentation" of their time share offers. We did - and boy do they make it look like a "deal", but please beware - there are ALWAYS hidden costs - maintenance fees & MANDATORY all-inclusive brings the price back up to what you would normally pay.
My husband and I just got back from our 7 day honeymoon, where we stayed at the Sunset Lagoon Hotel. Other than the rooms being very nice, the weather being great and the ocean awesome, everything else sucked!! The food at the hotel is terrible - we both ended up sick, as did every single couple we met! We got very tired of having the same buffet every day and night. (they don't tell you that of the 3 restaurants they brag about, only 1 is open at a time!) Also no domestic/imported beer as they advertise. Dos Equis on tap...period. The mixed drinks were very weak and had the same taste since they use the same weird mixer for everything. Also, beware of the "time share vampires" who falsely make you believe they are employees of the hotel, as they are located in the lobby. We lost an entire day to them. Sad to say, but we were ready to go home by the third day. We will NEVER go back to Cancun. EVER.
We will staying again at the Sunset Lagoon for the 3'rd year. We really like it. The buildings are only 3 stories high, and staying there is more like having a townhouse. Nothing like a big hotel. Much more intimate. And quiet, especially compared to the Sunset Hotel. And the rooms are very nice, highly recommended. There is a beach, but it is on the lagoon, so no going in. The pool is nice, and adequate, since this is not a large property. They have really done some nice upgrades in the last 3 years. Since it's on the bus stop, and you can get anywhere quickly for 50 cents, location is not a problem. If you want to walk the beach, go across the street to the Gran Caribe Real and start there. We do not stay all inclusive (they pressure you to), but in the morning we cross the street toward the Gran Caribe, go a little more left to a little shop area, and eat an "all you want off the menu" for $3.50. If you want a little more quiet, laid back, less frantic place to stay, this is definitely it. This is 4 stars bordering on 5!.
In Love with Sunset Lagoon
Alone with my family summer of 2001 I went on a trip which at first I thought was going to be nothing different from the summer before. Sunset Lagoon was the greatest place I have ever been at. I am a 16 year old girl, and I would recomend it to any teenager or family looking for a fun-filled time packed with excitment. I loved the staf at Sunset Lagoon. I miss the staff more than anything else in Mexico. I would go back to Sunset Lagoon anytime. The staff made it very easy to have a great time. The rooms were very clean and evevryone was very nice.
