... H-58, John saw the original old road. Most of us should know what John thinks about old roads - he has to drive on them whenever possible. So at Keene we took the old road for Tehachapi. We could see a railway line running near the road and after a way saw some people standing by the road with cameras ready for something. ... High Desert Mavericks and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. We noticed that half the people were in tank tops, and half were bundled up with blankets. Amazingly, all seemed comfortable. We were freezing, and dashed off mid-game to enjoy the hot tub at the Desert Willow RV Park before it closed for the evening. That thawed me out, so I was able to sleep; it was to be one of the last cool nights on the trip.

... with dense fog, wind, and rain. We reluctantly pack up in the "comfort" of the dry restroom. The tent is completely soaked and weighs a ton. So much for ultralight!
10 minutes into our hike we are completely soaked. But we have no choice, we have to put the miles because we have an appointment with Shirley's parents that night. A few miles later, we get pounded by hail, then a few minutes ...

... I also had a super thick, chocolate shake. From there we went to one of Lorraine and I's favorite Las Vegas store. Disney Character Warehouse south of the Strip. Inventory was great this time, but still managed to purchase a few items. It was then off to the Palms Casino to see if we could see any of the girls from "Girls Next Door". We thought parking was going to be a pain, but found that we might be driving "Lucky Ducky". We'll explain "ducky" later... We found ...
