      A Very Pleasant Surprise

We arrived in Senggigi via boat from Denpasar, quite unprepared for what to expect, as we had not had the time or energy to do the usual research on the new destination in our travels. As such, we found ourselves hiring a taxi to help us locate a place. After checking out three different hotels, we settled on Sunset House. Excellent choice.

Beautiful garden and beach front settings - your choice, to accommodate your budget. We chose a room with a garden rather than a sea view, as it suited our budget. The room is huge, beautifully decorated in very modern decor, meticulously clean, and has a large balcony overlooking a beautiful garden, hillside view, and jungle scape, which you can take in as well from the wall to wall French doors that open on to the balcony.

The room price includes an excellent full buffet breakfast, which makes it an even better deal. The restaurant is open until 11 pm, and serves a variety of dishes. The hotel grounds on the seaview side are also beautiful, with a stellar pool overlooking the ocean, comfortable poolside furniture, and a number of large gazebos for lounging.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and the service excellent. We expect to be back in Senggigi in a couple of weeks, and will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 36 in the garden and liked it a lot, but the seaview rooms are also very nice, if your budget allows it, as they are considerably more expensive, but still reasonable for what you are getting.

The location was nice, a little over an hour from the airport but within walking distance to the shops and lots of restaurants. The staff was incredibly helpful and the view was great. be prepared for everyone coming onto the grounds to try and sell their products and services though. It would have been nicer if they had restricted their access to approach us while having breakfast...

      Peaceful, Clean, and Friendly Staff

We stayed here for one night during the low season and had a very relaxing time. The room was clean and the fascilities are the nicest we have stayed in for several weeks despite the affordable price. We paid a little over $30 US which is a good deal if you are traveling as a couple. The bed and linens are very nice compared to equivalent accomodations we have experienced in Bali, Gili Air, and Lombok.

The Sunset House shares the beach with only a few other accomodations and we had it mostly to ourselves. The sun sets over the water so it truly is great for sunsests. When the sky is clear you can see the volcano on Bali.

The staff is very friendly and they have great internet access.

Senggigi - Lombok's Only Bona Fide Resort Area

Thirty six hours after arriving in Bali, Indonesia, we are on a boat taking us to the northwest coast of Lombok, arriving at the resort area of Senggigi, which we are told is the only developed resort area on the island of Lombok. Unlike its neighbour island Bali, Lombok is just beginning to develop its tourism industry. In fact, Lombok is often …

... the fog, I eventually lost it to a minute of overwhelmed panic. I was so anxious about the light headedness I was feeling I couldn’t trust my own judgement about whether it was safe to keep climbing or to just park myself for a bit. But there was a nice couple behind me and we shared a snickers bar between us, paused, and restarted slowly up again (still getting lost several times until a porter from another team saw us and made sure we didn’t lose our ...

Tomorrow going to be exciting because we go to Gili (what means Island) Meno just in front of the coast of North Lombok to do some scubber diving and hopefully to see some sea turtles! Gili Meno

A travel blog entry by niomioconnor on May 26, 2014

The last couple of days were spent on Gili Meno island. The boat journey from Gili T to Gili M is very short and cheap, it takes about ten minutes and your there but of course as me and Anna traveled hungover it wasn't as painless as it could or should have been. Gili Meno is a much smaller island, it's very quiet and there's literally a few hotels, a bar or two and a couple of shops. There are no ATM machines and there's barely any wifi on the island unless you go to ...

We had a cutsie single night stop over in the idyllic little harbour town of Padang Bai. Most people just see this as a transfer destination between Bali and the Gilli islands however Florian had promised it had the most beautiful beach where we could see turtles so we decided to all stay one night. It was a short hour bus trip from Ubud that got us into Pedang Bai with a whole day to spend by the beach. We checked in at Alola Inn where they recognised and welcomed back ...
