    A Very Pleasant Surprise

We arrived in Senggigi via boat from Denpasar, quite unprepared for what to expect, as we had not had the time or energy to do the usual research on the new destination in our travels. As such, we found ourselves hiring a taxi to help us locate a place. After checking out three different hotels, we settled on Sunset House. Excellent choice.

Beautiful garden and beach front settings - your choice, to accommodate your budget. We chose a room with a garden rather than a sea view, as it suited our budget. The room is huge, beautifully decorated in very modern decor, meticulously clean, and has a large balcony overlooking a beautiful garden, hillside view, and jungle scape, which you can take in as well from the wall to wall French doors that open on to the balcony.

The room price includes an excellent full buffet breakfast, which makes it an even better deal. The restaurant is open until 11 pm, and serves a variety of dishes. The hotel grounds on the seaview side are also beautiful, with a stellar pool overlooking the ocean, comfortable poolside furniture, and a number of large gazebos for lounging.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and the service excellent. We expect to be back in Senggigi in a couple of weeks, and will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 36 in the garden and liked it a lot, but the seaview rooms are also very nice, if your budget allows it, as they are considerably more expensive, but still reasonable for what you are getting.

The location was nice, a little over an hour from the airport but within walking distance to the shops and lots of restaurants. The staff was incredibly helpful and the view was great. be prepared for everyone coming onto the grounds to try and sell their products and services though. It would have been nicer if they had restricted their access to approach us while having breakfast...

    Peaceful, Clean, and Friendly Staff

We stayed here for one night during the low season and had a very relaxing time. The room was clean and the fascilities are the nicest we have stayed in for several weeks despite the affordable price. We paid a little over $30 US which is a good deal if you are traveling as a couple. The bed and linens are very nice compared to equivalent accomodations we have experienced in Bali, Gili Air, and Lombok.

The Sunset House shares the beach with only a few other accomodations and we had it mostly to ourselves. The sun sets over the water so it truly is great for sunsests. When the sky is clear you can see the volcano on Bali.

The staff is very friendly and they have great internet access.

For desert we had vanilla bean ice cream, frilled pineapple and lava cake - a beautiful ball full of chocolate sauce. We ordered Penfold's Rawson's Retreat Shiraz Cabernet for the Princely sum of $70. While we waited for it was being delivered I checked on Dan's website (in defiance of the electronic free meal time rule) and found it sells for $7.60!! It went down a ...

Our safety came first and we were well catered for often having too much food at mealtimes and a pile of snacks in between. You don't have to pay the earth for this service. Whether a personal battle of self confidence, or just a tough physical workout Rinjani is well worth it, and what a view too. ...

... I felt like I had missed some of the first part of the dive while getting organized. The wall was really neat and quite a different experience from the day before. The current was quite strong so we just floated past all the different creatures, looking up or down as we went. We saw more turtles and the neatest one was just sitting in a hole on a ledge. After drifting past the wall for 20 minutes or so, we arrived at Meno Slope. We saw more clownfish playing in a bright ...

But the end of the week soon comes. We delay our exit by half a day as Ben has decided he wants to take us back out to Seahorse Bay again, but to slightly different part of the site. And we don’t regret it! The dive is long (75 minutes) and exceptional: we see seahorses, cowfish, frogfish, octopus, cuttlefish, ...
