      A Very Pleasant Surprise

We arrived in Senggigi via boat from Denpasar, quite unprepared for what to expect, as we had not had the time or energy to do the usual research on the new destination in our travels. As such, we found ourselves hiring a taxi to help us locate a place. After checking out three different hotels, we settled on Sunset House. Excellent choice.

Beautiful garden and beach front settings - your choice, to accommodate your budget. We chose a room with a garden rather than a sea view, as it suited our budget. The room is huge, beautifully decorated in very modern decor, meticulously clean, and has a large balcony overlooking a beautiful garden, hillside view, and jungle scape, which you can take in as well from the wall to wall French doors that open on to the balcony.

The room price includes an excellent full buffet breakfast, which makes it an even better deal. The restaurant is open until 11 pm, and serves a variety of dishes. The hotel grounds on the seaview side are also beautiful, with a stellar pool overlooking the ocean, comfortable poolside furniture, and a number of large gazebos for lounging.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and the service excellent. We expect to be back in Senggigi in a couple of weeks, and will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 36 in the garden and liked it a lot, but the seaview rooms are also very nice, if your budget allows it, as they are considerably more expensive, but still reasonable for what you are getting.

The location was nice, a little over an hour from the airport but within walking distance to the shops and lots of restaurants. The staff was incredibly helpful and the view was great. be prepared for everyone coming onto the grounds to try and sell their products and services though. It would have been nicer if they had restricted their access to approach us while having breakfast...

      Peaceful, Clean, and Friendly Staff

We stayed here for one night during the low season and had a very relaxing time. The room was clean and the fascilities are the nicest we have stayed in for several weeks despite the affordable price. We paid a little over $30 US which is a good deal if you are traveling as a couple. The bed and linens are very nice compared to equivalent accomodations we have experienced in Bali, Gili Air, and Lombok.

The Sunset House shares the beach with only a few other accomodations and we had it mostly to ourselves. The sun sets over the water so it truly is great for sunsests. When the sky is clear you can see the volcano on Bali.

The staff is very friendly and they have great internet access.

... out to be fine this time, we were glad he managed to redeem himself. The next day we attempted to repeat our 'Potato Head' skirmishes by trying out another bar which looked similar. Turned out to be way out of our league, we could barely afford one drink so left with our heads hung with shame. Instead we opted for cheaper day lazing on the beach. Up early the next morning for our flight out, we said our goodbyes to Nat and boarded for a bit of city life, next stop ...

I didn't even talked about the amazing food they here in Indonesia. The food is incredible and totally different from the Indonesian food in The Netherlands. I liked the Pisang Goreng a lot here with cheese and chocolate they make it here.

After this we were heading back to Bali to continue our journey through Indonesia.

... owner of our Homestay we were looking for and so was able to point us in the right direction. We eventually found it and were very pleased with it. It was a modern thatch roofed A-frame bungalow with an outside bathroom attached at the back (a common design for Gili). We left our bags and found our new route to the beach. The following morning we got up at 7am and went on a run around the whole island. Even though it was early the sun was still pretty hot ...

... 55357 ; eventually we gave up and made a good deal with a non English speaking taxi driver who took us to the next place we needed to be within less than an hour to get the last bus of the day.... Yes maybe not the most ideal situations but we made it there in time and the taxi driver was safe and didn't rip us off and it was all stress free hallelujah !! So in this next place we had to get a local shuttle bus to Senaru itself, where people were ...

We haven't done too much on Gili T except chill out on the beaches and eat a lot of nice food! I finished my advanced diving course which I couldn't finish in ko toa back in Thailand. I did another two dives with 2 German guys I met on the Komodo boat trip and we had such a good laugh! The dives were pretty impressive, didn't see that much on the first dive, a lot of tropical fish and the biggest jellyfish I have ever seen! The second dive was much better, we dived at shark point ...
