    A Very Pleasant Surprise

We arrived in Senggigi via boat from Denpasar, quite unprepared for what to expect, as we had not had the time or energy to do the usual research on the new destination in our travels. As such, we found ourselves hiring a taxi to help us locate a place. After checking out three different hotels, we settled on Sunset House. Excellent choice.

Beautiful garden and beach front settings - your choice, to accommodate your budget. We chose a room with a garden rather than a sea view, as it suited our budget. The room is huge, beautifully decorated in very modern decor, meticulously clean, and has a large balcony overlooking a beautiful garden, hillside view, and jungle scape, which you can take in as well from the wall to wall French doors that open on to the balcony.

The room price includes an excellent full buffet breakfast, which makes it an even better deal. The restaurant is open until 11 pm, and serves a variety of dishes. The hotel grounds on the seaview side are also beautiful, with a stellar pool overlooking the ocean, comfortable poolside furniture, and a number of large gazebos for lounging.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and the service excellent. We expect to be back in Senggigi in a couple of weeks, and will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 36 in the garden and liked it a lot, but the seaview rooms are also very nice, if your budget allows it, as they are considerably more expensive, but still reasonable for what you are getting.

The location was nice, a little over an hour from the airport but within walking distance to the shops and lots of restaurants. The staff was incredibly helpful and the view was great. be prepared for everyone coming onto the grounds to try and sell their products and services though. It would have been nicer if they had restricted their access to approach us while having breakfast...

    Peaceful, Clean, and Friendly Staff

We stayed here for one night during the low season and had a very relaxing time. The room was clean and the fascilities are the nicest we have stayed in for several weeks despite the affordable price. We paid a little over $30 US which is a good deal if you are traveling as a couple. The bed and linens are very nice compared to equivalent accomodations we have experienced in Bali, Gili Air, and Lombok.

The Sunset House shares the beach with only a few other accomodations and we had it mostly to ourselves. The sun sets over the water so it truly is great for sunsests. When the sky is clear you can see the volcano on Bali.

The staff is very friendly and they have great internet access.

Heerlijk resort! We werden zo hartelijk ontvangen.

Our few days spent here has been idyllic. The simplicity of this place is unique. The simple pleasures to enjoy are all that are on offer. The last couple of days we have spent on the beach by day and enjoying the different eating experiences by night. Being that this is a Muslim Island, we have also got used to the sound of the mosque. It is Ramadam and the chanting from the mosque is always in the back ...

Within minutes Jordi was located and we were invited to join them on their outside seating area, a large bamboo hut, for tea, rice snacks and a good old catch up. Funnily enough Jordi was stoned so didn’t remember much from yesterday let alone 10 years ago but was delightful and introduced us ...

... drunk. Unburdened by this knowledge we got into his car before an overwhelming sense of regret took over us both. He regaled us with many a tale before inviting us to eat at his restaurant. Most people wouldn't accept an offer for dinner in an unknown location from a drunk stranger, but we did...because there's something very wrong with us. I blame the fact that he offered steak and only an unreasonable person could decline that. We arrived and ended up meeting his mother and I ...
