... of the Zurich hash. The last time she saw him was on a hash in Nairobi in 2004! He now lives on Grenada as his wife teaches at the medical school (the island has something like 8,000 medical students and they are everywhere!). It's always good to get away from the boat and speak to people whose conversation is not about boat woes. We did try out a few of the restaurants on the beach (Grenada has one long sandy beach called Grand Anse that has a beach bar/shack called ...
Saint Martin, Antigua and Barbuda on-oncruising... passengers on our jeep were getting rather high, and loud; good grief 2 drinks and their inhibitions just fade away,( don't go there I don't want to think about it). Just after we left there I received a phone call from Charlotte Cayless (those of you from BG will possible remember her, she left to move to Antigua 3-4 years ago) We'd been trying to arrange to get together whilst we were here but it looked like it wasn't going to ...
Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda easygeeze... island's history from prehistoric times to the present time. It was quite impressive, interesting and well done. A short, guided tour of the ruins was taken afterwards where we enjoyed panoramic views from the observation deck.

Thereafter, we continued on to another Lookout point on the island for a picture perfect view of Nelson's Dockyard below plus various secluded coves. At that exact moment, what a wonderful feeling I had. The entire ...
Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda momentsintime... hours, then back on by the 4:30 on-deck time. The ship departs Anguilla at 5 pm with MUCH better weather than we came into that morning. Tonight is formal night again, meaning we definitely don't eat in the main dining room. We meet at 5:30 for drinks and secure a good seat to watch the formal ware parade into the dining room. Then we head to the grill for our dinner about 7pm. Tomorrow we'll be in St. Martin.
St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda kathylag...
English Harbour, Antigua and Barbuda sylviaenjeroenToday we arrived in St. John's, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda. We debarked the ship and walked a bit until we reached what seemed to be some sort of plaza, where a local was balancing a pineapple on her head while grooving to music, hoping to make a few dollars off of us tourists. Later in the day, we took a tour of the island and saw two gorgeous beaches: Dickinson and Runaway.
St. John's, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda ashleylutt... to forget my good manners! 20 minutes drive back to the hotel, the beach sellers start to be less abrasive, warming up to the guest. Since my arrival, some have nicknamed me Miss Canada, others, the little mermaid. I can now see the people under their crusty attitude, and I get to talk decently with some of them, about their life here, their culture, their dreams. Beyond their pressure selling, they are nice people. Winston is going round and round, trying to find ...
St John,, Antigua and Barbuda banshee... we moved over to Falmouth Harbour. We had a delightful visit and decided to stay at the Mad Mongoose for dinner which we all enjoyed. Yesterday, Tuesday, March 7th, Iain again came to Free Spirit, climbed and checked the forestay and orderd a new connector sleeve for the forestay. We got our laundry done, extended our cruising permit, caught up on email, moved temporarily back to English Harbour and the Slipway and then came back to Falmouth Harbour where we now sit. We are about ...
More Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda freespirit2006... I couldn't dream up a palate as saturated as the one I witness here. The indigo ocean laps at the bright white sand until it fades to fuchsia and eventually a brilliant tiffany blue. With Montserrat in the background, where my grandmother was actually born- I feel connected. Strange as it may sound, connected to the family I love and miss. We will be diving tomorrow and I cannot wait ...
Jolly Harbour, Antigua and Barbuda ramcc23... ridiculous. We are offered just a plate of fruit salad and some cheese, and we are all very angry. The leader gets nervous and tries to calm us down and the chef from the kitchen tells us that this is what they eat in this exotic island for lunch, so we should not be demanding. I then go straight to the people of the group and tell them to deny eating this ridiculous dish ...
