... and the hostages were released. The next story concerned the Beirut Hostages of which there were many. As last time Terry Waite took us to the point where he was about to get into a car with the hostage takers and then said, ‘sorry times up, you’ll have to wait till next time!’ This was predictable but very funny.
The next lecture concerns his 5 years in solitary confinement and how he coped. The final ‘session of enrichment for the morning’ was ...
... dinner at the down down or Abu Tig Marina. There are a wide varieties of restaurants or trendy bars for you to choose. We really love everything in this little town ((food, service, friendly staff, night life, variety from buffet, facilities, clientele and the range of bars) and no pressure to buy anything. Hope their tourism industry would get better soon due the political issues happening in Egypt.
... allowed to get in without covering your head. Then we shop around in New Marina. There are more shops and better restaurants or bars than the old town. On returning to the hotel, we tried our first time taking the micro-bus. We asked a local people about how it works. It costs only 1 Egyptian pound for anywhere you go. Get on the bus and paid 1 Egyptian pound and then called to stop when you have arrived your hotel. Enjoy Hurgahda!
... I like to cook and so we went in an Egyptian spice shop. The shop keeper is so enthusiastic in explaining every spice in his shop. He also told us the recent politics issue they had in their country and the reason why they don’t like America. They wanted to control their own country by themselves. The tourism industry is getting worse by the news. It is safe to travel ...

We booked our hotel, Triton Empire Hotel, through hostelbookers.com. It is cheaper than other websites by about 5 pounds per night. The room is unexpectedly big, one double bed, two single bed and a living area. For 15 pounds/night, you can have ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Sunrise Mamlouk Palace Resort Hurghada
Dezember 2007
We have just returned from a week in Mamlouk Palace in Hurghada, Egypt. It was only the hotel's second season as they only opened in May 2007 so I would expect many more reviews in time! The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so lovely that it was hard to leave. Even though they have only been opened for 2 seasons - you wouldn't know.
Overall it was a good (not excellent) experience at the hotel. We stayed 7 nights from Dec. 18. Rooms quite large (we stayed in a family room). One heated pool. The 2 water slides were not finished yet and who knows when, because no one worked on it all week while we were there! We went next door to Sunrise Garden so the kids could use the small water slide there. Sun beds were plenty at the pool and beach and towels are available for free. It was funny that by the pool it was really windy, and it was better suntanning by the beach. The beach is clean and and sandy. Not many swimmers, sea was quite cool. Food in main restaurant was good, but all week it was more or less the same. Service was good and friendly in restaurants and at the bars/snack bars. The kids loved the pizza/hamburgers and I enjoyed the spicy meat sandwiches for lunch at the pool/beach bars. Directly outside the hotel there is nothing to do. Looked like quite a walk to some nearby stores.
Hotel nicht zu empfehlen
Service und Ausstattung gut, Essen teilweise verkocht und gewürzlos, häufiger Fluglärm, 80 % russische Gäste, mittelmässiger Strand, Baulärm
We stayed at Mamlouk Palace for 2 weeks, 6 - 20 Nov 2007.
This hotel was a great choice...I didn't know much about itbefore going but I surprise by the hotel and area. the hotel is not far from the airport but is it quite far from Hurghada town, you can get a taxi to the town there and back for about $20USD, if there is a car full this works out quite cheap. The hotel has a shuttle bus return in the early evening for about 25ED or £2.50!!
I like Sunrise resorts due its really good quality services and hotels. I went to Mamlouk having almost no idea what to expect (very few reviews in the internet) and I must say it is the best hotel I've been in Egypt. Rooms are big ang clean, pools are huuge. Food in restaurants often changes (of course you have few plates which are all the time) diffrent kinds of meat, pasta, salads, fruits, cakes... delicious.
