We arrived at LAX at about 8:30PM local time. Took a taxi to the Hotel (which is next to the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro).
No frills hotel - but it served its purpose.
Dinner was at the lovely "Grinders" restaurant (basically a Diner).
... br> The kids needed to pause, and really, after Legoland, Disney & Universal in 5 days I was with them! We got up. Eventually. We got more free snacks. We had lunch. Connor swam. I swam. Aidan gained a mild temperature that was vanquished with Nurofen. He perked up.
Hmmmm. It's 4:30 & I did actually want to do something today. (!)
Concierge special - $8 off at Madame Tussaud's - sounds good. Alas kids are melting down & its ...

Hmmm I'm guess the Malbec didn't work as I was awake my 3am. Fortunately we were able to lay back down in an hour and didn't get up again until 9am. We settled on a buffet breakfast where we talked shop with crew from JetBlue and AeroMexico. ... Kept pressing buttons until cool air sort of came out. We actually paid extra for the bigger rooms too. Dropped the bags off and we were starving so we wandered back down towards the train station to see what we could get. There were lots of little Japanese restaurants along the way but we were too tired to try the local cuisine and sit in these crowded spots. Grabbed a good old some western type fast food and back to the room. I can feel a bad nights sleep coming ...
... we were just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
The views got even better from our next stop - Trump National Golf Course. Although it is quite expensive to play there, one can enjoy the grounds and many trails down the beach for free, and we did a little loop around the other edge of the club house. The views were to die for, the temperature was perfect and all I wanted to do was grab a blanket and a picnic basket and spend the rest ...
