    Excellent place to stay

I stayed at this hotel in September. This was my first time in LA and I was kinda worried about how the place would be like. I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was at a very good (safe) location, near the marina at Redondo beach. It wasn't too difficult to find the way there (using a map). A few restaurants were across the street, walking distance. The parking was free. The room was great and the price was $80 + tax per night, which wasn't that bad. I stayed there for three nights. The room was clean, had a tv, phone, refrigerator. The bathroom was clean. The overall service was on a very high level and the staff was quite friendly and helpful. There was a pool at the premises. The price of the room included a complementary breakfast. If I ever come back to LA, I think this is the place I would want stay at again.

    Lovely hotel

With being our 1st time in L.A. and not sure where to stay, we went by the reviews on here and were not dissappointed. It is a lovely, clean hotel, good fridge in the room and the beds are really comfortable! We stayed there for 13 nights and it was a good base for all the sights, if you don't mind travelling. It can take over an hour to get to Hollywood with the traffic being so heavy. The pool was good and they provide towels, which was a nice bonus. It is only a short walk to the pier and there are quite a few restaurants nearby. The only thing the area lacks are a few family bars as we had our children with us aged 13 and 17. We went into 'Splash' at the Crowne Plaza next door, but it is mainly an adult bar.

    A Third Return Visit

My husband & I with our 16-yr old twins stayed at the Best Western Sunrise for 3 nights in July. This is our 3rd stay at this motel and we have always enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were recently redecorated & are very nice, clean & a good size with the added bonus of a fridge to complement the coffee-maker. Great location with respect to the Redondo Pier and for bicycling along the beach. Would definitely return for a 4th time.

    Comfortable room, but ? view

Clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet, and well-maintained rooms, within easy walking distance of the marina, pier, and beach make this hotel a great choice. Mini-fridges in the room are a nice touch. The staff was very helpful and accomodating to all of our requests, and the rate was really reasonable. However, be aware that the hotel is located directly next to a power plant. Our "view" facing the marina was primarily a parking lot and bicycle rental shop. While I was slightly horrified when we pulled up next to the smoke stacks, this didn't really detract from our stay, and we did enjoy exploring the beaches in both directions. Given the high price of real estate in the area, I guess the power plant is just an accepted part of this area of California coast. Breakfast was only of fair quality, with generic cereals and marginal fruit.

    Disappointed in the Sunrise

I went to the Sunrise partially because of reviews at this site. We had 2 rooms and one we couldn't use because they had sprayed so much sanitizing spray none of us could stand it. They tried to ozone and air out room, but no success and so 2 of us went to another hotel. Smelled the spray throughout the hotel.

Marina view does show parts of the marina, but it's across the parking lot and a busy street. It's several blocks to the actual beach. Continental breakfast is okay--fresh waffles are nice, however, milk for cereal wasn't labeled as to what kind of milk.

    Great rate Great stay

We just returned from trip and we were very pleased, front desk was great and rooms were spacious, I would stay again.

    Greta hotel

What a great hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a good free breakfast every morning with a waffle bar. Close to redondo and hermosa beaches. This was a great vacation and a very nice hotel. can't wait to go back.

    Hidden Gem - Great Value

What a hidden gem! Ten minutes from LAX and right opposite the marina and miles of fabulous walks right by the ocean with fantastic restaurants and views closeby. Very clean, big rooms and staff that are always happy to help - what a surprise along with a very reasonable rate. Room had everything in it you wanted and it made a great base for a few days! I will not stay anywhere else in LA again!Jan 2004

Great stop for a night's rest

This is a great place to stay for the night. There is a great place to eat across the street (The Cheesecake Factory) and the harbor is a nice view from the hotel. We stop here the day before for our cruises leave port the next day. This hotel is about 30 minutes down the coast. We don't feel rushed when we do this and there is alot to do along the pier to the harbor. We would definately make this our stop again.

The only place I stay at in Redondo Beach.

I've stayed at many of the hotels in the area but I love the sunrise.

The rooms are comfortable and clean and the best part is the continental breakfast in the morning. No charge for parking like another hotel across the street. The pool is clean but the hot tub based on the last 2 trips there was not fuctioning very well. It is a very short walk to the Kings Harbor and there are many food places within a short distance. I do alot of business in downtown LA and love staying at the Sunrise.

We got to sleep in today. Left Anaheim at noon and got to Manhattan Beach by 1 PM.

Of course Matthew headed straight for the water. Swimming was not in the plan but that changed. He couldn't resist the waves. After the beach, we walked out on Manhattan Beach Pier. The weather was great. We got to see surfers, Manhattan Beach homes and an interesting, small aquarium. ...

... to have a better gander at the displays which were beautiful. There was a lovely cobbled street off Rodeo Drive with a few boutiquey shops that weren't designer but still had beautiful, high end, one-off fashion bits. It was a great experience even if we couldn't enjoy it fully and buy everything we wanted.

After a bit of window shopping we hailed a taxi and went west to a place called Westwood. Here was where I met a friend from camp that I met ...

... Alex, and headed out for a night on the town. We had a great sushi dinner, and then went to a speakeasy style club/lounge called the Edison. Here we drank some classy cocktails as we watched the club's famous burlesque show. We left after a while to meet up with Alex's brother and caught the tail end of a funky band with a horn section playing at another bar. At this point we decided we should put our own musical skills to the test and go to a karaoke bar. Tony and I ...

... Josephina (Pepina) and Rosa. If you read the census carefully, you’ll see that his father, Charlie Sr., if I can call him that, migrated in 1891 and his mother, Mary, actually Maria Grande, migrated in 1896. But it also shows they had been married 10 years, which means they were married in Italy in 1890. The census also reveals that Mary/Maria had three children, only two of which were then living.
