... well with the local population.

About this time it began to rain, and I learned that the passenger side windshield wiper had been broken off in some unspecified manner. Theo could see, I saw only a kaleidoscope effect that soon began turning my stomach. So I looked out the side window as we drove in the rain.

After saying the tough goodbyes to my families and communities in Manakara and Vohipeno, I was happy to see the smiling faces and receive big welcome hugs from my Madagar family. I was now concerned and after he hurriedly ate his lunch he disappeared again. Meanwhile after our more leisurely lunch Guy suggested looking in the bushes for the local wildlife. It was ...

Back in Antananarivo, I had 36 hours or so to wait for my flight to the north western city of Sambava. In that time I planned to visit the out of town Royal Palace, called the Rova (confusingly one of several Rovas) at Ambohimanga. But only if the weather was good. Unfortunately, when I got up that morning it was overcast and threatening to rain, so I decided against that excursion.

Instead I contented myself with a trip back to the Gare Soarano and a ...
