A Little Jazz

... I am out by 11 PM.

There is an electronic intercom system at the entry door to the building of my hostel (located on the 3rd floor). Instructions are in Polish. After several failed attempts, I stop a couple in the street to read the instructions. So much easier when one speaks the language.

I had to move to another room at the hostel since the 8 bedroom was scheduled to be full. I sm in the 10 bed room with only one other person.

Small Version of Wroclaw

I catch the morning train with the intent of spending the afternoon and night in Poznan then leaving the following morning. I enjoy it enough that I will spend another day.

Regional trains are half or less of the Inter City or Express trains. Interestingly, on many routes, including the one to Poznan the time of the Regional is almost the same. The others do offer better quality seating and bathrooms.

Most of the train ...

Very serious indeed

In the forest near Poznan, 25-07-2001.

With only four hundert kilometers to Belin and five days of holiday left, there is no reason to hurry, no particular moment of doubt about the end of this trip. I can take the back roads through the dark green pine forests so abundant in Northern Poland. Maybe even cycle the remaining six hundert kilometers from Berlin to Amsterdam instead of using my return ticket by train.

Would ...

Poznan> Trlag

Kasia phoned the priest to ask him if he would be available to see the church. Our appointment was for 2:00. The drive from the city to Trlag was enjoyable. The countryside is kind of flat, but with rolling hills , stacks of hay for the winter for the animals. The leaves were just starting to turn their colors and it was sunny when we arrived in the village. Father opened the ...

Poznan

Poznań is a vibrant, alive city in west-central Poland located on the Warta River. Even thought Poznan is one of the oldest cities in Poland and wonderful as a historical center, it might surprise you with it's vibrant, young, college energy.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul is the oldest Polish cathedral, founded in Poznań during the latter half of the 10th century. The son of Mieszko I, Boleslaus the ...

... airport baggage claim, you have a carousel and a tunnel from where the baggage is deposited. That tunnel was covered in an olive print. The inside of the tunnell was red as to look like a pimento olive. In addition there were stuffed olive cushions lying around. I really have no idea why. When did Poznan become an olive capital?? I am soooo confused. As I wait an incredibly long time for my bags, my dad gives me a call and says he's already in Poznan. Bonus! I tell him not to ...

There were sandwiches and fruit juice and Polish chocolate and biscuits - it was an amazing surprise. Ula was lovely and came with me to the outskirts of Poznan and waited with me until I got picked up and then went home and did her university homework - like I said before, amazing hospitality.
