... br>I found a nice little cafe round the corner from me that sells cheap beer and mid range price food. I get a banana pancake from there for 25,000 dong ($1.20 or something) that is MASSIVE, with a bowl of chocolate syrup to pour over. I've had that for lunch the last two days. It's a good place to sit and watch the carnival that is Saigon. I spent so much time there they automatically organize a table for me when I walk past. Met a few interesting people sitting there. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam elstevo... to us very bine the tricks and traps of the Vietnamese, a reed.
The dressed to the Mekong Delta has also been a wonder, seeing the famous floating market and enjoy the life style of Vietnamese. The canoe paseito has been wonderful, watching the surrounding villages.
Not to mention the market in Saigon, this is a real bargain, is the cheapest country we visited. Eat, drink, shop and sleep for four dollars. We will return.
... the road eventually ground us down and we took pity on two cyclo drivers and booked them to take us to the museum. We bartered them down to 20,000 dong each and agreed a price (this is important for later on). They dropped us off at the museum and refused to take payment saying they would wait until we came out.
The museum itself is a fascinating/depressing place. The first thing you seen when you walk in is a plaque with the American declaration ...
... made the tunnel larger, to make it western friendly. But still unreal how small the space is, i am only 5ft 11inch and my shoulders were scraping against the walls. plus i was bent over all of the way. 100 yards is the length of the whole tunnel, yet if you want to experience it, but can't do it all then every 20yards is an opening and you can get out fairly easily. I managed to do the whole tunnel, and then remembered that I ...

... retrieving your passport, sit here, stand there, get back on the bus, get your luggage and get off the bus- all this would make anyones head spin! The last leg of the process, I'm sitting on the bus, thinking that I'm finished and finally on my way to Ho Chi Minh when a gentleman in a uniform comes up to me, hands me a pink piece of paper and tells me, "you come now... doctor check your hair." What??? Doctor ...

We finally got to Saigon/HCMC, or whatever you like to call it. It was with some fear that we stepped off the bus, as we have heard so much about the bag-snatchers here. One of the Irish girls we had met in Laos had her bag slashed and stolen the night before we arrived here and we'd met a ...
... tunnels where the Vietnamese fought the Americans and we were astonsihed to learn that some families lived in the tunnels for more than 10 years sometimes being allowed out at noght, though mostly only to fight. Unbelievable what they went through.
First stop was Nha Trang via an overnight train and hey ho we got an upgrade ;) 1st class train! they're such good fun but we all arrived a wee bit tired as normally they got in at the strangest of hours early ...
