Excellent value for money. Good location, clean, modern room, friendly staff. The breakfast wasn't to my liking but that's the only negative.

My standard tipple was Saigon Red (to my mind the tastiest Vietnamese beer) with a dash of 7-Up. A Saigon Red cost 19,000 VND, which was very reasonable for Pham Ngu Lao, where many bars charge a scandalous 35,000 VND. Another drink I used to enjoy at Santa was ...

for lunch I had chicken with veggies and dessert. After 7 hours we got off the

and had a drink and I had a hazelnut milkshake (it was amazing). Then we headed
to the gate and had to wait again (there was a lot of waiting). Then again we
board again and we had the same seats as we did before but I sat next to dad.

I'll be honest, it wasn't as bad as I expected, which I had probably built up in my head to be some sort of child jail, but it was still a very difficult experience. This particular one we went to houses a lot of people with disabilities, so there are grown adults there, as well as children, as ...

On this flight it was easier to sleep. I had the window seat, and was able to lean against the wall. I forwent breakfast, and got 2 hours' sleep during that, then I started to watch a movie, and decided, no, I want to be ...

    Postscript July 2015:

In the Birmingham Art Gallery I was deeply impressed by two paintings - 'The Travelling Companions' and 'The Last of England' - which I had previously known from the front covers of poetry books.
