Shinjuku, Kanto, Japan bi_xWe make our last trip to Tokyo. It was sad, but we did have a great last time. In the morning we checked out Ueno zoo, where we saw some crazy Okapis, as well as some actual live Japanese Tanukis (raccoon dogs) for the very first time! Then we made a short visit to the world's only Parasitological museum (that's right a museum dedicated solely to parasites). Unfortunately most of the information was in Japanese, but you don't really need ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan fiseb... or pose for photos...definitely a bit surreal...and only in Japan! We forgot to mention that we spent the night in capsules at a capsule hotel! Quite the experience, though one we probably won't repeat. The capsules themselves were actually quite spacious, and included tv/radio/alarm, but the beds were pretty hard to lay on, and people outside could be rather noisy...Happy to have tried it though!
Tokyo, Japan fiseb... The force was quite something...I got it, this was obviously one of those new 2 in 1 workout and massage machines I'd heard soo much about hmm very efficient! But, then why was I surprised considering where in the world I had my **** planted. The finale to the evening began with a herbal rinse, ladled from a large wooden barrel with a bamboo spoon followed, by a freezing cold shower and last but by no means least sitting on those wooden stools and abusing all the free stuff!
Tokyo, Japan rush... this. One fella I spoke to who had been looking for a week told me it is very rare that you will find a place with two rooms (excluding bathroom, you'll have a paper-thin door separating that from your living/sleeping/cooking area). Naturally, we tried to wait until Mac had left the apartment for work each day before working out how the change in diet had effected our insides. Now. Combine two of the strains of thought in this blog and one from another: 1. Tokyo is a perfectly ...
Tokyo, Japan alasdairnicola... people often live. After mass, I met Yoko, Momo, Shyuuichi at Shibuya station and we all went to Yokohama for the day. It was a lot of fun! We did some shopping when we arrived, since there is a Snoopy Town store there and Momo loves Snoopy. Yoko and I went to a few other clothing stores while Momo shopped. Then we all went to Cosmo World and rode the roller coaster there - "Vanish!" Although the ride was short, it was really fun and a great thing to do with my ...
Tokyo, Japan mmdillho... hotels. You can recognise a love hotel by its name, the big flashy neon signs and often weird buildings. Love Hotels are made to visit with your wife, girlfriend or lover and can be used for a 'rest' or a 'stay'. When you see how thin the walls are in most Japanese houses you realise why they want a place like this for some peace and quiet :-) The first night back from skiing we hadn't ...
Tokyo, Japan markenhylda... in Kill Bill volume 1 where Uma fights off the Crazy 88s (hi soccer girlies, go the Crazy 66s!). It was very cool. Afterwards we went to an Irish pub where we had to have a Guiness, and then on to this fab underground bar with bed/lounge things where the girls knocked back some Mojitos and the boys had a nap. We then stumbled home somehow. The next day we awoke to a rude shock...we all had rip roaring nasty hangovers. Sight seeing was on hold until later in the day, but I am proud to ...
Tokyo, Japan andrewmarnie... is one of biggest cities in Japan. There were plenty of shopping malls and branches of some of my favouite brands like Muji. We were excited and walked until the shops closed. In Japan, shops (excluded food shops) closed very early. they were are closed at about 8 (compared with hong kong, shops closed at 10 or 11). Then, we had dinner at a shiyabu ...
