... br>So, I will stop googling Che Guevara, Norton motorcycles, CC-explanations, and Chinese license laws and try to launch into details of my journey to Jiankou.
So rewind to October 1st… to the beginning of the holidays. The evening before two German friends studying in Shanghai arrived at the hostel, with no real definite plans besides going to the Great Wall, and stomping around the countryside. We set off on Thursday, October 2. It was a great start to the trip ...
... steps and steep walls either side, but beyond about Stage 4 the steps turned into steep slopes and the walls keeping you from plunging over the edge and down the mountainside, fell away. I don't think I've ever felt so exposed; trying to negotiate passing other people on the wall was a fairly precarious business near the top, especially when you only have the use of one arm to grab onto anything!
It's impossible to ...

... figures show China is getting richer, it is against a low baseline, a self-inflicted injury they did to themselves - not the Japanese or any other Western imperialists. How can an economist talk about quality of life? I would rather hear from a Buddhist monk or a Chinese migrant worker in Beijing or a family in a roadside shack. An interesting issue of Newsweek recently ran a story which showed very clearly that China can't use 'we're a developing country' excuse anymore ...
Beijing, China happysheep... more definite answer and could not get one. I get the run around and changed from department to department, shuffling between different answers and none are a certainty on how to get there properly. Finally I was told that there are special Olympic buses running from Changping Stadium but a special ticket is required to board them. So I asked how do I get a ticket, but was told that I could not. So an event that clearly states on all it's websites and in every information ...
Beijing, China livewireshock... venues featuring cutting-edge designs that will be the centre of all attention, beginning at the gateway to the Games the Beijing Airport. The airport has been designed by British architect Norman Foster, who beat stiff competition from artist Damien Hirst (among others) to bag "Britain's Best 2008" in the arts category. Terminal 3 is an architectural gem, its surface area larger than all of Heathrow's five terminals. The airport, estimated to handle 50 ...
Beijing, China happysheepBeijing, China. GMT + 7. We had a surprisingly comfortable 9 hour flight here. The entertainment was great, we could pick what we wanted to watch and pause it etc. That was good. Anyway here is a little run down how the last few days have gone and what I've been up to: April 2nd: We got a bus to the train station from the airport. Here we bought our tickets to Shanghai, while doing so we were taught how to pronounce ...
Beijing, China mossradden... too busy to stop and eat with us, however her friend Zhang was there. The dumplings are delicious. Yangzi really is the perfect, most wonderful host running out with new batches of dumplings as we all sit and chat and eat. Later Xiaojing joins us and we talk about final arrangements for our journey to Shanghai. The evening is ended with group photos which will be cherished for the wonderful memories of our time at "home" with Yangzi, her friends, Xiaojing, Tony and the dog.
Beijing, China englishrose... rise dotting every corner of the skyline and next to it a slum housing project not fit for any American. Beijing has moved away from traditional ancient culture in favor for Western traditions. The empirical sites are now just for tourists. Clearly Beijing demonstrates more capitalism than communist. So what have we been doing?? From early morning to late at night, we are American tourists without the black socks and sandals ...
Beijing, China rjknowltnOy, I'm on a China spree! It's time to enroll in Volunteer programs. Here's another opportunity for us... Has anyone seen those cute pandas at the National Zoo, Washington, or at the zoo in San Diego Zoo?? They're all brought from China. Yes! In fact, 23 pandas have been sent around the world from the Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan, China. This year they're offering a ...
