... As we
needed to be organised both for the wedding and our European trip, we
left early in the afternoon, driving in lovely sunshine back to
Brixham to our good friends Jan and Jeremy. Another huge load of
washing went out on their unique clothes line in time to go with the
Pucketts to their neighbours for dinner. Our hosts Heather and Peter
had also invited two other guests, Susan and Roy – all nice fun

... and a magnificent building. The guide pointed out a connection to Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth Book.
Out to dinner at a 13th century Welsh pub, a beautiful old building and a great meal. Looking forward to our last day and moving into the apartment in London, so we don't have to pack and unpack everyday.
... coast path over 700’ cliffs to Minehead. Great scenery all the way, only spoilt by Wales in the distance but at least it looks as if it were raining over there now.
The first climb out of Lynmouth is arduous and gets the heart pumping, but knowing it was the last day was a real treat. Bring it on. There were some great views back to the village and Lynton. Then in the woods there were long downhill sections that just seemed to go on forever, ...

Valley of Rocks I was reminded of another holiday where we had a picnic on the slopes of Castle Rock watching the occasional vehicle pass or turn around to avoid the toll road at the roundabout below. There was some confusion below as there were no signs on this roundabout and some motorists decided to go the wrong way round just for the fun of it. ... me up from a free car park this time and drove to Hele Bay just past Ilfracombe, where my first climb was up Hillsborough overlooking Ilfracombe. The harbour and town looked really pretty form here, I was shocked. Ilfracombe always seemed to look as though it had seen better times. Never in the same desperate league as Westward Ho! mind, just a bit down at heel. But here it was, looking as attractive as any harbour town I had come across, if ...
