Day 6-Olympia

... Although he is a very smooth and good bus driver he does worry me at times when he claps and steers with his elbows or when he is taking a photo with one hand and driving with the other... A accident occurred this afternoon as he was trying to take a photo whilst going around a steep bend to the hotel... Apparently he broke the side bug mirror :( but he insisted it was ok! We first stopped in Olympia for lunch, em and I shared a pizza but it wasn't that good ...

Last day in the Peloponnese

... who bumped into me, the people stocking shelves upstairs, the cashier--no one. It was a really cool experience.

The rest of the night was pretty chill, which was really nice after such a busy week. I made fingerling potatoes on the stove, which were simple and delicious :)

I think it's really great that CYA organizes these trips for us, and I can't wait for the end of March, when we'll be hitting up Delphi and Northern Greece!

We walk the main street which has restaurants, souvenir shops etc. We have a look around and Mary spots a gold metal (not real gold) butterfly bangle (only 15 euro), I had to buy it. Its gorgeous. We went into a shop and the owner was painting a plate. It was absolutely gorgeous with lots of detail and an owl in the middle, its a pottery plate with terracotta and black colours. Mary loves it. Some amazingly complete pediments and metopes (pediments are the triangular bits on the ends, and metopes are the rectangular ones down the sides) were displayed in the central hall, complete with descriptions of what they represent. Alas you cannot pose with any of the artefacts (to preserve their dignity) but I got some great photos all the same.
