Our flight from Heathrow to LAX was with Air New Zealand, as this was their very first flight from their new home at Terminal 2, they were offering all passengers a lucky dip prize, we took our chance and each won a deluxe eye mask! The on-board, on-demand entertainment made the 10.5 hour flight fly past (no pun intended!). The games were a bit …

After a late dinner, we make our way back to the hotel. I have had a great day, but I have to say that Los Angeles is not my favourite place in the world. It is huge (geographically), pretty dirty and totally full of hawkers and many, many beggars. ... with few hotels, full of low cost rentals and pawn shops, not somewhere we wanted to stop. Neither was West Hollywood, a congested city strip with heavy traffic and drivers changing lanes at any opportunity. We continued through the Downtown area on Santa Monica Boulevard and saw the famous Hollywood sign visible in the distance in the haze of the sunshine. Eventually we reached Beverley Hills and Rodeo Drive with their manicured, green verges and wide ...

... which was great considering there are about 50 people in line just as we're leaving. Jody had the bacon chilli dog and I got the Ryan Lochte special which consisted of two humongous wieners in one bun smothered with chilli and nacho cheese plus onions rings (sorry Karen...I know you're going to make me pay for this in Feb! LOL). Oh man, best fast food ever! We'd go back again right now!
