... baby on the way. We stopped at a taverna by an amazing beach. The food was very average, the beer was good, the water looked several shades of turquoise & quite choppy, the sand was golden and Lance got a rusty nail through his foot. Luckily his tetanus is all up to date. The beach was located close to the islands airport. The planes were coming in to land what seemed like every couple of minutes. It was a lovely spot to cool off and watch the sea and ...

While planning this trip I had a vision in my head of cruising around the island on a motorcycle, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells, going where I wanted to go. ... in central Heraklion - Had Greek salad, tatziki, mixed chicken plate for two, and there was enough food brought out for at least four people. The staff then brought us melons and some rake - which was strong enough to grow hairs on your chest. Very much enjoyed that eating experience.

Day two on Crete saw us driving towards the Palace of Knossos, for a wee bit of ancient history. Such a large site to explore. All quite low key - there are ...
