After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74Up early as it was a spectacular sunrise - full of pinks and organges. We wanted to hit McWifi before we entered Italy but we did not find one until later in the day in Menton. Before that we drove the coast road through Nice and Monte Carlo, both concrete ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74Cannes is not as glamrous as we thought it would be, it still has all the fancy smancy stores along the beach, but there were definitely no red carpets rolled out when we were there. We did a day trip to St-Tropez, its was the end of a hge sailing competitiona and tons of ...
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjon... menu. Lambrusca. If you haven't had it before, its a wonderful young sparkling red wine. (please disreguard the last comment, the wine was horrible)

http://picasaweb.googl e.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090927NiceAnti besCannesStTropez?authkey=Gv1sRgCPzYpeu 2gIC7Jw&feat=directlink
Nice, Provence, France sofenjon... br>
Today's Royal itinerary takes us on a tour of Monaco, including old Monaco and the Royal Palace. It's uncertain whether the schedules of Prince Albert or Princess Caroline will allow for a meeting with Princess Lesia but our respective public relations staff are working on it!

The tour of Monaco-Ville, also known as Old Monaco included a walk through the narrow streets that once ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... We almost quit on the way up, but put in a heroic effort to make it up to the top. It was only once we got there that we saw the tram that drives people up! There were amazing overhead views of the entire city of Nice and the coastline from the top of this hill.

We had planned on finding our way to a shopping centre, but we were so hot and tired that we wanted to head straight to the beach. On our ...
Monaco, Monaco mc01... the city of Cannes, still part of the French Riviera just as Monaco is, but with some sandy beaches. So in the morning we hopped on the train and off we were. Cannes, unlike its nearby counter part, has some sandy beaches and is known for hosting many award ceremonies for music and movies, while flaunting their red carpet (it was a good 5 min look). We were set out to discover Cannes but found ourselves taking a ferry over ...
Nice, France jaywehrs... strolled the boardwalk, watched the waves crash, and I do mean crash, and marveled at the three unique bright shades of blue water. No sandy beaches here, all pebbles and most of the beach is divided into small fenced in private areas belonging to hotels and clubs. They supply chairs and umbrellas, you supply your bathingsuit-or not-depending on how much tan ...
Nice, France marwiltwhat can I say, The Grand Prix, cloudless skies, temps in the 70's. The sound of the cars screaming down the staightaways, screeching to brake at the turns, then off again. Luckily we found a very elevated viewing spot right above the course. Very exciting and then later we were down on the course, with the cars turning right in front of ...
