This is the area where middle-ranking samurai families lived and the original houses in this area have been preserved. the samurai house we visited was built over 270 years ago. The house displays many historical artefacts such as clothing and swords, furniture and domestic items.     ... at a station called Kawato. We were not looking forward to this trip so much, as we were a little bit worried that we would miss Kawato. However much to our surprise and delight, we were met by Kento Hara and his lovely wife, Giovanna, when we got off the bus at Izumo.

    Discounts abound for the student, the retiree, and the local; however, who has ever received a discount for simply being a foreigner? At the Nima Sand Museum and the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine, Fox and Mouse gloried in such hospitality (while also feeling sorry for the sisters Ito).

    The Sand Museum was a bit interesting, but surely more for those with Japanese literacy. Fox really enjoyed the sand bookmark craft at the end.
