Today was the first morning I was not woken by that damn whistling bird. Lauren and I both thought it was some guy whistling tunelessly outside our window for the first couple of days in Munnar. Apparently there is a species of bird that mimics a tone deaf geriatric whistling to themselves. Annoying as hell.

Next stop: Echo Dam and Echo Point. This is a rather blank, somewhat grey dam and reservoir outside Munnar. The views were good and the man-made lake pleasant enough to visit, but we keep it brief and returned to the car. ... chap had meditated for 15 years, afterwards we went to the side of a steep hill to look out across the plain below which was quite spectacular. Finally we caught a nice sunset from a different hill and went back to Kumily.
