... All sorts of dignitaries and reporters were on hand for the unveiling.

There were all sorts of artefacts and curios from the past 160 years, including the helmet shaped decorations that used to adorn the opening of a tunnel.

We had 3 hours at the museum, 2 of which was to look around and another hour for lunch. That was probably more than enough time for me.

Final preps done and just relaxing today. Marc giving his last seminar. They are giving us a goodbye party this evening and heading home tomorrow. What a summer it has been and life changing too. ... so very nice of him and we tried one before dinner and it was very good. Later our host dropped of two speciality single cakes and two fruit bars from the shop her daughter works. ... to gain some perspective on what I have achieved through my association with Japan. Sometimes seeing the 'normal stuff' through fresh eyes is really refreshing (her compliments didn't hurt much either, ha!). And as I near the end of my second semester here, I feel like my exchange experience has evolved into something so far beyond my initial goal of language learning.
