... we could even make it as the last bus to Kamikochi left the nearby bus stop at 4pm, which is ridiculously early. If we missed that, we would have to catch a taxi there. As Kamikochi is a national park, cars are not allowed in.

Lots of autumn leaves with thatched roof houses at Shirakawago. Some of the roofs were a meter thick. We wandered around till about 2.20pm. There were canals along the street with huge koi and ...

Our last port of call and tour today before disembarking tomorrow in Maizuru. It looks to be a bright sunny day ahead since the typhoon has moved on which is good. We sail into the port before sunrise and are greeted at the port by ladies dressed in kimonos, and a Samurai cartoon character, I get a few pics with them and the Captain. We visited the gardens, which were beautiful, then ventured to the Geisha district. Many of the buildings are now private homes and shops as well as some ...

Breakfast @ home ;). Got a lift on the Left Loop bus ($5 daily pass) to the Omi-Cho Market. This is all produce, mainly seafood and quite a bit of it still breathing. Simply fantastic choice and stunning quality. The oysters are big, twice the the size of Sydney rock oysters. Every other fish possible is represented. Important to myself is the 'Fungus Stall'. Here there are ten times as many spore created gourmet delights in Kanazawa than in Canberra. It is also the home of the ...
