The day started with a walk along the beach, we stopped to speak to a lady who was chatting to a younger man. They were both British and were interested in our travels. We passed the tavernas of which a couple were open and at the end of the beach where the waves were reaching the top we cut through to the road. We headed back and then had coffee before setting out for Rethymno. We need to top up the Internet and we can only do that at ...

... fallen rocks. Most of the mountain roads don't have any barriers, I'm glad Les is on the edge of the road and I feel much safer in the middle. Everywhere there are nets out under the olive trees to catch the ones that fall off in the wind. The trees that overhang the roads have nets sometimes as much a 3or 4 feet into the road, held down with large rocks. The washing was almost dry as we moved back indoors to cook tea and plan where to go to tomorrow. We were expecting more rain in the evening, but the sky is quite ...

... the tv on and it was reporting of snow across most if Greece, also about a ferry that had had difficulties and people were missing. Every time we went outside for anything we were soaked by the wind lashing the rain against us. It's a good job we have electric hook up and can put the heating on to dry our coats, shoes and trousers. In the evening we watched Les Miserable as a New Year's Eve treat We saw the new year in, we could hear a few fireworks in the distance before we fell ...

Another windy night and it's wet this morning. We spent some time sorting the photos to post on today's blog and then prepared to move on.
The rain had passed and the sun was shinning making it feel quite warm. We took Logan for a walk, first we walked to the right, across the lovely pink coloured sand, the tide was going out. We came to some black rocks enclosing small bays with black pebbly beaches. We looked into the rock pools but there doesn't seem to ...
