Ladies on the Lower Gauley

A travel blog entry by angiekayaks

I signed up to do the Girls at Play "Ladies on the Lower G" fundraiser for American Whitewater after speaking with Anna about the trip. This was my first time running the Lower Gauley. I have never rafted the Lower Gauley so I did not know what to expect, I was just hoping it was nothing like the Upper Gauley!

The white water rafting was incredible and we had an amazing time. Part of the full day trip is pulling over onto a bank where the rafting guides cook us a BBQ for lunch. They provided snacks, drinks, really great burgers and dessert too.

We saw a bald headed eagle today - so amazing. They are actually very rare for this area. We also saw a deer and her fawn swimming on the rivers edge.
