          ... I was very scared to go again this week because I wouldnt be good enough, and although lebanese is going well I seem to be forgetting all my fusHa. Luckily i had an hour long tutorial with Sophie's teacher first which was all on alkitaab and was very good. I had an hour break between the afternoon classes and went to meet Sophie and Isabel in hamra. We went to a bookshop and it was nice. My concerns were proved correct in the class afterwards though, it was awful and I had to say ...

          ... that they can go. And road blocks are everywhere, in Beirut and outside. Yet, nobody seems to be bothered by this omnipresence of the law. Or by the omnipresence of armed soldiers, in and around Beirut. In fact, nobody seems to be bothered by much at all, Beiruties live their lives from day to day, possibly realizing that you can’t tell what comes tomorrow anyhow, so you might as well enjoy today. And Beirut is definitely the place to do that.
