... a sandwich and we're off! The yellow line takes us through the City and on to the Botanical gardens which are billed as the largest orchid gardens in the world. In spite of a slight drizzle, we walked the pathways around this impressive tropical property. We hop on the bus again and it continues past old mansions near the entrance. The landscaping is all exquisitely done. As the bus travels down Orchard Road, where I stayed with Bill at the Mandarin in the late nineties we ...

Our guide was a veteran, a voluble volunteer and I couldn't help thinking that his wife must be thrilled that he is out of the house and from under her feet several days a week. No one else seems to be affected by this in the family - Lauren says its because I am a "ginger" (one with red hair so I am "unique" - there is that word again). I grabbed a small bag of chips from the cupboard, and noticed how they had expanded to a bubble. This explains why I feel the way I do - my insides are about to explode like this bag!

Off to bed, and to the Grand Canyon tomorrow.

... America. Once again, really great to get out of the van and do some exercise, and really interesting landscape to explore ... and more cacti than you can poke a stick at. Literally. Pretty awesome. And we avoided coming across any snakes too, which i enjoyed :-) Only downside was the temperature, which was, and still is here in Phoenix, pretty stinking hot. I can't imagine what it must be like in the middle of summer here if this is mid autumn. ...
