Old friends and new

... visiting. It's great to see an old friend with a great family, but it also makes you reflect. It was the first time I really got to play with and study a two year old. And now I know why they say an angel watches over all small children.
Erin and I have decided to make our visits more frequent in the future.

... footed in the Pacific Northwest, you don't think about where your water comes from. And reclaimed water? Yucky.
But here in the desert reclaimed water is what makes the golf possible. And in Arizona, golf is king.
Water courses through Phoenix like an Oregon holiday--wet and extravagant. I cringe to see man made ponds, lakes, waterfalls and rivers in this desert decorate developments like baubles on a tree.
But when you know they've ...

Season of the Snowbird

I know that I have spent some time in previous entries trying to convince all of you that I have turned over a new leaf when it comes to my border-line obsessive planning!! I really do feel that I have made huge strides forward in this endeavor. With that being said I have to now confess that I am back to my 'old' ways.

We will be spending the winter 'season' in the heavily visited 'snowbird' region of the country. This area encompasses ...

... didn’t do anything with motorhome, no elec, no jacks, no slides out – that can all wait till tomorrow. Steve showed up – I can look down the street and see his house – and invited me to a ‘happy hour’ with he, Jayne and 3 other couples. Enjoyed it, but I have only snacked a bit today and I had 2 glasses of wine – that’s one more that I normally drink – and when I went home a bit after 7 I just walked in, straight through the ...

... could show the taxi driver, i could have done with one of those in Montreal! Anyhow so everyone was sure to be on time. The landscape changed dramatically from San Diego to Scottsdale as we headed into the dessert. This was a long day on the coach, we didn't have too many days that were spent on the coach but if memory serves right i think this was one of them. We had plenty of stops along the way ...

Starting point of our trip....

We started our trip from Tempe, Arizona (see how we currently lived there). Our goal was to find a new life and our destination was the south-west, southeast, and notrth-east sections of the United States.

So it was time to say our 'Good byes.'

... tire off the wheel-as in clear off! We got him onto semi level ground and everyone helped him get the spare on. In the meanwhile he had scratched his legs badly and had blood coming out of at least 20 spots! After getting the tire fixed the guys discovered the new stabilizer that he had just had installed was bent and leaked all the fluid out so they removed it - It was less than a week old! Uneventful most of the way on out, though we had to talk the guys out of a ...

... changes. Later in the day they called to say the Jeep was ready to pick up - we had both forgotten about it since we have another car! Picked it up - $400 bill, and now can go wheelin' again. The repairs were on the rear differential. Had a big package from Dar today. We opened it and took out the mail but will wait to open the rest. I baked 3 kinds of cookies today- one I will not take to the public-I just can't get the hang of this oven for baking! I have ruined ...

The end of the road????????

... and travelers all over Guatemala. This has to be the most popular destination in Central America (even more packed than Costa Rica) and definitely the easiest to travel. To be fair, we didn´t veer off the well established and networked "Gringo Trail". That said, there´s a reason it´s such a hit. The sites are amazing! *Antigua- Yes, it´s more expensive than other cities. Yes, it´s touristy. But it´s also a gorgeous colonial town with cobbled streets, colorful buildings ...

... a black fellow at the bar "brotha". I tried to throw my share of smartass comments toward him, but much to my dismay they were largely ignored. Exit stage right and on to Moose McGillicuddy's (sp?) where Hornfans.com was hosting a party. Alright, all of the hotties I remember from my former university would be bumping and grinding right? Apparently they missed the news that the Horns were in San Diego cause all I saw were a few fat chicks and a dude who was way to ...
