    ... shopping trip, we take the car into the hills to visit the Santa Barbara botanical gardens, these are most impressive, and being a botanical garden are not all formal, just lots of native Californian trees mainly, but it involves a 1mile walk and we all enjoy it, especially Jess and Ollie.     ... Santa Barbara. Apparently, this is where Oprah Winfrey lives. Charlie Chaplin also lived there and his old house is now the Montecito Inn, with a very famous restaurant. Trying to find places in California is a nightmare as there never appears to be any road signs to places, so unless you know the name of the road you are supposed to turn off on, you can go round and round in circles.     ... everyone told me to do so. It is a old courthouse that was built in 1850. It is also an amazing tourist attraction. Many people get married (and/or divorced) in this building and while I was visiting, a wedding was ongoing. What is interesting about that courthouse is that there is an observation tower where you can have an overall view of Santa Barbara.
