“Got a decent deal at this swanky place”

When we bought a bus ticket from Ubud to Lovina we had several hotels written down and were just going to cruise around and try to find the best deal. Suma was on our list and it so happened that they dropped us off there.
The reception guy started taking us to a room and we quickly let him know we were nearing the end of our trip and very low on money, we wanted to know how much the cheapest room they had was. He replied 150,000ird and we went to leave, he lowered it to 100,000 so we agreed to check out the room. It was fine, mosquito net, double bed, private bath- although we had drainage issues to our bathroom was a puddle most of the time, though the toilet is on a raised platform so we didn't care, cold water, and breakfast included. They also had a huge nice pool and wifi, although the wifi was pretty shitty. Breakfast though, that was great. Several choices of eggs, omlette with ham and onions, or nasi goreng, choice of coffee or tea, comes with 2 pieces of toast, butter and jam as well as juice and fruit. After paying 100,000 in Kuta and getting worse internet and just 2 pieces of toast, gross jam and lard for breakfast, this was quite the step up.
It's right on the beach, although the beach in that area is pretty trashy and has a lot of hawkers on it. Very pushy.. This place was great for the price we payed but I wouldn't want to pay much more. The staff is nice but pretty pushy about booking trips through them. Which by the way, do not do, it's much cheaper other places, just walk around and ask.

Lovina is a nice quiet place in the North of Bali where the French seem to flock. It is made up of 7 villages, the most touristy one being Kalibukbuk where there is a "town center" i.e. a 3 block radius with 3 mini marts, some restaurants and massage places. It mainly has black sand beaches which around our area were not appealing to swim in. …

... Each time I stand too fast, I get a bit lightheaded. I'm probably dehydrated. I think I'm gonna do some shopping, maybe lay around the beach, get some lunch, then head back to the bungalow around dinner time. I have another long journey tomorrow to the Gili Islands. I think the ferry takes around 4 hours and who knows how long the drive will take. So I will wrap this up. A baby gecko keep crawling over the screen and it's getting a bit distracting.

Of course I had to use the loo....urgently....and I walked into a little stall thats owner is friends with my friend Colleen.
I quickly said hello from Colleen (hope you are reading this Colleen)...and then asked to use kamar Kecil.
OMG, of course it was a squat and for the third time this trip, I had to "go" on one.

... in Ubud.

We had a quite evening at a rather fancy resort hotel, Aditya. It was a bit more upscale than our regular homestays, but they provided our drivers with a free room and breakfast. Although, much more simple than they one we stayed in. We should have just gone to a cheaper homestay and paid for two rooms. Still, it was nice to splash around in their fancy pool.

The next morning, we headed back up into the mountains to ...
